I did this PT Cruiser today and actually made some money! This is my sister in laws car, she works in an industrial complex and her car picks up lots of fallout. Oh yea, she also lives right by the rail road tracks. Oh course she drives a black car. The paint was very rough. I swear that when I was claying it I could hear the clay shearing/lifting up contaminants from the paint. The interior was pretty nasty. She had chest surgery a little over two months ago and her range of motion and endurance is pretty limited.
I was not trying to get a swirl free finish :hide: :nervous2:
Until she is healed from the surgery she has a very hard time washing the car, so it will be touchless washes. I live to far from her to maintain it or work on it more often then once a month or every other month or I would have spent more time on the paint. When I took the afters I wasn't completely done with the car, I still needed to QD for dust and smudges and treat the bumpers and mud flaps. I was trying to get some pictures before the sun went down, so please bear that in mind.
Process
Tires and WW APC 5-1
Rims with Mothers Chrome polish
Tires dressed with EO wet
WW dressed with AA foam
Wash with Eagle One, clay with Meguiars clay at the same time. I don't remember where I first read to wash and clay at the same time but :up what a time saver that is. Her car was so bad it killed 1/3 of a 200gram Megs clay bar.
Vacuum
Sonus cockpit detailer for all interior surfaces that I could put it on. She didn't want any shine on the dash and with Sonus I wasn't even sure there was anything there. It dries with no shine at all.
All glass with Stoners IG
I spent about 2 hours on the interior
1Z PP with a Cyclo and a cutting pad
1Z MP with a Cyclo and a polishing pad
1Z GW by hand
AG Bumper care on bumpers and mud flaps
Mothers Show time QD
Exterior time was about 4.5 hours
Hood before
You can see some of the swirls in the sun
Like these water spots? You cant tell in the other pictures but the entire car was covered in them. Clay helped alot, the remained had to be ground
I mean polished out.
After
More in a few minutes.
