Ok guys i'm looking to make my second purchase, first from here. and heres what i'm thinking, if anybody has any suggestions.

1. UDM

2. Sonus SFX Foam Pad Kit

3. SFX-1, SFX-2, SFX-3

4. Sonus Der Wunder Mitt

5. Sonus SFX Detail Clay Bundle

6. extra Sonus SFX-2 Paint Polishing Pad for applying Klasse AIO

7. Sonus Der Wunder Drying Towel, Pkg/2

8. Sonus Der Wunder Buffing Towel, Pkg/2

9. Sonus Acrylic Spritz

and I already have Klasse AIO and SG

1. UDM nah Flex

2. EDGE Pads (and quick change kit when it comes out)

3. Menzerna SIP and 106ff

4. Clay Magic clay and ONR for washing and lube

5. MFs you have chosen are fine including the mitt

Mind you nothing wrong with your choices, I am just giving you what I wish I had when I started.

I def. thought about the edge pads and the Menzerna SIP and 106ff I'm just not sure if it has the cutting power I need and if I can pair it with klasse. And I wouldn't touch a flex to my car becuase I'm just starting out and do not feel I have the ability to use one yet.

Here is what I did:

1. Flex (awesome choice!)

2. Clay

2. SIP

3. 106ff

4. DWG

5. Natty Blue

6. MF's

7. LCC pads

8. ONR for wash

9. Grout sponges!

10. LSP of choice

That ought to take care of my vette to start with. :buffing:

thursday88,

I bought the UDM from here with the DAS pads (nice pads), the SFX-2 and SFX-3. I think the SFX-3 is a really nice finish polish but the SFX-2 doesnt have a lot of cut (IME) so I ordered IP (PO91E)... then FP (PO85U)... and finally FPII (PO87MC). Trust me... once you start, you wont be able to stop.:D

flex is good, but the PC has been serving detailers fine for a LONG time.

If you have the money the flex is great...personally I'd rather buy something like the Makita that can do DA and Rotary or a PC DA and Rotary.

I started with the PC. Its okay. Wish someone had convinced me to go with the Flex instead. Mennzerna too. SIP and 106ff take care of most of my worries. Though occasionally I have to use a green pad before using the orange and white pads.

Hey guys thanks for the input, and yes I already have 4 or 5 MF towels.

Oh man, you gotta add at least 10 more to your collection. :chuckle: You can never have enough MF's.

haha thanks for pointing out the importance of mf supplies, I'll have to find some way to import more into my inventory.

Well I really want a flex now but I don't have the funds but I was also wondering a few things about the Menzerna polishes. My car is a 98 and has the normal wear and tear of a red 10yr old car. My questions are

1. what is the difference between IP and SIP they seem to have the same cut

and

2. If I went the SIP or IP and 106FF route could I finish up with Klasse or what I not even need to do that?

Polishing wont offer your finish any protection..you will still need to add that...and i think SIP has more cut than IP but i havent ever used either....but that is what i have always understood....remember cut is determined by a lot more than just the polish (pad, speed, etc.)..

i'll probably be going for a light cutting (orange) ccs pad with the IP or SIP on 5 or 6 speed setting if i can figure out which to get.

I've got my mind set on the Menzernas IP and 106ff but I can't decide if I want 5.5 or 6.5 pads becuase it comes with a few 5.5 orange light cutting pads I would use for correction then I was thinking about getting a LC CCS white and grey pad in 6.5 for applying 106ff and AIO

I would seriously consider SIP over IP!!

ok heres what I have right now including some MFs from pakshak and ONR and grout sponge.

I was just wondering, I know a ton of people out there use the SIP/106ff tag team. which pad would be best for application, I was thinking grey or white.
