First motorcycle detail

Well I have been getting asked by a few people to detail their bikes. I had never done one so I told them I couldn't. A friend of mine just bought an 05 Harley Sportster so I told him I wanted to detail it just so I could get a feel for it and learn some things, and to figure how much I would charge. This was totally free, hes a good friend of mine and it was for research pretty much.

Anyway, I need to know what people are using for aluminum polish. I have Adams Metal Polish #1 and #2 and they weren't cutting it. It was taking WAY too long to clean the aluminum areas WAY TOO LONG. I could probably shave off 2-2.5 hours if I could have had something that cleaned it better. All in all it took about 7 hours start to finish. Here are some of the pics

Looks great! I've never detailed a bike but it looks like you could reach a lot of those places with a powerball mini.

Believe me, I was cursing because I didn't have one. I was thinking the same thing when I was working on it.

For aluminum I have always used Autosol, you can get it online for Eastwood. It is pretty abbrasive but does wonders. I have used this stuff mostly for polishing pot metal on older triumphs and it does an excellent job.

Great work Jason!

I own a sportbike so I don't know much about the polish, but as stated a powerball is the single most important tool I have for my bike. I went from 2 hours or so for a good job to under 1. Different bikes will vary, but on the busa it makes the front and rear rakes infinitely easier to reach.
