First experience with P21S

Did the first detailing on my 2002 black F150 Lariat (ext cab, FX4) this weekend. Washed with GC, followed by P21 GEPC, followed by P21S carnauba. (skipped the clay bar for now, as paint felt pretty good after wash with baggie test.......wife's Mustang is a different story). Was going to add Meguiars Professional Hand Polish before the wax, but it didn't arrive before the weekend. Don't think I'll be using it for a while when it arrives, because the shine is pretty remarkable (however, this is my first time using something other than wax only or Meguiars 3-step, so my frame of reference is limited). Will add another round of P21S carnauba in another week or so. Thanks to all on the board for the numerous suggestions. Did the bumper (chrome and what I believe is clear-coated (black) plastic trim), wheels (clear-coated cast aluminum), and chrome step-ups (nerf bars to some) with AIO........wow. Remarkable shine. Followed that up with a coat of SG........guess it added more protection, but I can't say it made the chrome or black plastic trim look any better. AIO and a coat of wax, or just AIO every few months, might be the way to go in the future. Lastly, first time using MF towels instead of cotton towels.........I'm sold.

Thanks again for all of your help and suggestions:xyxthumbs

<strong class='bbc'>Did you put the SG and AIO over the carnuaba??? Not sure I was reading your post correctly... [/b]</blockquote>
I got a little confused too! :p

You mean that's not the way to do it:eek:

Just kidding. Chrome/wheels (and the plastic trim thing on the bumper) got only AIO and SG. Truck itself (i.e., paint) got only GEPC and P21S.

Sorry for any confusion.

Cheers

I havent used the p21s wax, but the p21s gepc rules. It is one of my favorite products. I just recently used it for the first time and had excellent results topping it with Souveran.

And the cool thing is that you can find the P21S(S100) products locally at nice cycle shops if you look around. I bought the polish and wax a few weeks ago for less than $25 for both. Sad thing is that I don't really have a car to use them on...LOL! Oh well, I like being able to find things locally instead of internet ordering at higher prices. Now if I could just get AutoZone to start carrying Zaino and Klasse...

Metallic Mike- Did you buy the P21S or the S100 product for that price at the cycle shop?. I noticed the lookalike packaging (to the P21S products) on the S100 line. Begs the question "is it, or isn't it the identical product". Guess I'll do a search, but it would be interesting to hear your opinion when you get a chance to use them (if you bought the S100 stuff).

Intermezzo- I was actually following some of your posts in an earlier thread I posted to on the Detailing board. If I recall correctly, you did add a polish step after the gepc and before the P21S wax. Just curious, was the extra step worth the effort?

bjwebster- at some point I know I'll have to break down and try the Souveran, but my wife hasn't yet seen the total bill from last month's purchases :D

That's correct. I did the GEPC followed by Meguiar's Hand Polish followed by Meguiar's #26. A few days layer I added an extra layer of P21S wax to the horizontal panels. It was hard to tell if the Hand Polish step improved the shine or not because the GEPC alone did a very good job. I could have tested it by applying HP to half the hood, roof and trunk, but decided against it because I knew I wasn't going to use HP again. The polish step took too much effort, and if there WAS any improvement in shine, it was marginal at best. The GEPC is an awesome product, provides a great shine and is very easy to use. I'm sure the HP is a good product too and most of the difficulties I was having probably stemmed from my technique. I'm just going to do the GEPC (2x/year) + carnauba routine for now and maybe give the Hand Polish another shot later on.

BTW, the P21S & S100 waxes are the same.

I thought that P21S is for german cars only, because their paint is different? Thats what I have heard, because some waxes don't react well to german paints, and that one was specifically engineered for German paint

Correct me if I am wrong.

Uh, your wrong. P21S works great period. I've owned BMWs for the last ten years and the paint seems not to care where te wax or polymer is made. My X5 seemed to get along with BF very nicely. :p

P21S can be used on any car, but it was originally made for German paint. It sure won't hurt to use it on any paint though.
