Hey guys,

First, I need to thank you all for sharing your knowledge with all the rookies out there (such as myself). Here is my first posting of my wife's 06 Accord. I unfortunately did not take any before pictures, but we live on a dirt road so use your imagination. Also, just to preface the posting I used all OTC products and a PC7424

Here was the line up:

Gold Class Wash

Clay Magic

Megs NXT

Gold Class Liquid Wax

Wheels:

Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner

Hot Shine Tire Coating (which is great because you adjust the nozzle to spray for low profile, medium or tall/suv/truck tires...eliminating overspray on the wheels.

I would love any feedback you'd all be willing to share!

Which is the hood, which is plywod? You decide!

Looks great!! I can't imagine living on a dirt road. I would have to quit my job and stay home to make sure the cars were clean!! LOL!!

Most of what I learned (if not all) about detailing, I learned from this forum and the great people here!! Stay with it and keep practicing! I am doing my MIL's S80 Volvo right now. It looked like a really clean, easy car to do till I got into it. I think I learn a lot from the little surprises that pop during a detail. How to clean something, what to use...etc. I think what is very interesting is the different paints that different cars have. I have done three cars now since I started doing "real" details. An '02 Tundra,'01 Accord and now the Vovlo. I am using the same product on all the cars just to see how each car turns out differently. So far the biggest difference has been that the Volvo paint needs a little more "work" to get the swirls and imperfectoins out. Which has forced me to try different things sush as speeds on the PC and differenet amounts of pressure to see how the paint reacts. I am finding it a TON of fun though!

Funny story about this detail, just to show how addicted I am to detialing now!

I went to a buddies house last night for some beer, pizza and video game action. We started about 5PM and I left aorund 11:30. We started with a 30pack and there were no beers in the fridge when I left. So I get home, fall in bed and pass out. I set my alarm for

8AM cuz I knew that I had the car to do. 4:30AM I wake up and start thinking about the detail and what I am going to do and how I am going to do it. That is just twisted!! 4 hours of sleep, Taco Bell for breakfast (great hangover cure) and 7 hours later I just now put the first coat of was on and can't wait for morning to add another!! Not really sure what I was getting at except to say how much I love detialing cars now!!

Keep up the good work!!

Very nice job! Any full car shots?

Thanks for all the comments, they are very encouraging!

I took a couple full car shot but the way the sun was coming through the trees behind the car they came out really bad. If it warms up today I will take some. I am supposed to be doing my truck (2004 4-Runner) today but its not even 30 degrees out right now so I dont know if that will happen....luckily her car fits in the garage so I kept it (and me) warm while I polished it.

Her paint was also in great shape. I made sure the dealer didnt touch it upon delivery and I only hand wash it. I know there may be better products out there but I like the OTC stuff. Its easy to get at a local store and its much cheaper (not that cheaper is always better, but when ou have a 13 moonth old it is).

Man I miss my NXT!!!

Pretty easy to use huh?

You achieved nice depth and gloss too. You might want to top it with just one more coat to make sure of an even coverage. You'll be very happy you did!

Thanks for the tip Justine. I do have to say you are one of the many guys here that I really like to follow, your work is always great! If I can possibly find time to add that second coat I will. I really want both of my vehicles to have some good protection against the New England winter. The NXT is very easy to use especially when you put it on with a PC, nice thin even coats that come off very easily. Thanks again for our comments!

No prob bro!

There is nothing wrong with over the counter products. A bottle of NXT will last you FOREVER! I get 3 months durability too. Plus, the smell is great. Thin, even coats are the key to NXT. It also has light cleaners in it that would suprisingly well. I even use it on interior trim that is plactic coated. Dust runs from it.

Great tip, I will keep that in mind. I am about to write up the post for my 4-Runner that I did today....that was an damn good transformation, check it out!
