I dont really post here much at DC but I check up and read all the posts just about everyday. Wednesday I will be doing my first actualy detail for someone. Its a 96 or 98 Jetta, She wasnt sure what year because its her daughters car. Its just the outside, and a quick vaccum on the inside. Since the outside its what I'll be spending my time on I told her $100 for the detail shoudl be fair. Any advice you can offer would be great. Please note that I'm not exaclty new to detailing cars but I've only done a few cars besides my own.

Attached is a picture of my own Jeep.

Well just make sure you do the car with the attitude of, "Would I pay $100 for this?"

Make sure the windows are crystal clear. Nothing worse than smeared windows.

Make sure the wheels and wheel wells are clean and free from dirt. Ever drive by a car at night and it looks very clean but then your headlights hit the wheel well area and it looks like a mud pit? Well you want to make sure that your wheel wells are super clean.

Lastly, before "I" hand the keys over to the client I open the doors and make sure that the door jambs are immaculate.....this is a MUST for me personally.

Congrats on the paying job and I wish you many more.

To be honest, I dont have much of a plan really, I havent even seen the car yet, just going by her opinion that the car is 'not bad'. I'm kinda just gonna see what it looks like when I get my hands on it and go from there.

Thanks, but I'm getting ready to sell it now, lookin to get an Audi A4, probably a 98 or somewhere around there.

I just finished up, took me about 3 1/2 hours or so, plus I washed my girlfriends car when she stopped by because it was disgusting. The car was in pretty bad shape, some medium oxidation, and lots of swirls. I used 3M Compound to take out the oxidation and swirls, it worked very well. I then polished with Meg's #7 and then topped it with a coat of Meg's GC wax..Nothing special but it came out really well. The owner was VERY happy.
