First detail on someone else's car, need input

So my grandmother is having me detail her gold CRV SE this weekend. The car is in decent shape, but its seen better days.



So here's the plan of action...



Meg's GC wash

Mothers Clay after wash, and before drying

Deep Crystal System Paint Cleaner

nXt or #26? (I would like to do nXt then 26, but I would have to let nXt cure for 24 hrs, right?)



Any tips on the application of the glaze?



Everything is going to be done by hand mind you.



Also, going to use EO A2Z to clean the wheels and tires, and then dressing the tires with nXt Protectant. Also going to use nXt protectant on the unpainted plastic cladding on the bumper and sides of the car.



Mother's back to black on the rubber door trim if its faded, or nXt protectant if it's still not too bad.



Lexol on the leather seating, and either Armorall, nXt tech protectant, or the Woolite wondermix on the dash? Woolite on the carpeting and any interior surface I dont clean with nXt/AA, Stoner's invisible glass on the windows...



And I think that should do it all? Any suggestions/comments/criticism would be much appreciated. I especially wanna know what people think about the nXt vs #26 (and the issue of curing time on the nXt), and the dash cleaning stuff.

You could probably skip the DC Cleaner, #9 and the clay should do the job.



#7 tips



You can use Woolite & Water to clean the leather and carpets and dash. Dress with whatever.



As far as NXT topping.. you can always offer to wash grandma's car a week later and add the #26 then.. double brownie points! :)

the woolite mix is for cleaning practically anything in the interior. i haven't used it a lot, so a search for this might provide more tips on how to use it.



as for the NXT and #26, do you have both? if so, try this, do half the hood with NXT, half with #26, and see which one you like. as for which one is better, well, that's hard to say, both are good products. in my personal experience, i've used NXT more times than #26 just because i liked how it looked on metallics (real clear so the metallics can shine) and it feels slicker than the #26. as far as durability, it's hard to say because i haven't left either one on long enough to see how long they last. :o

:D Good plan! Heh.. Sadly it wont work due to college starting 2 days after the detailing.



Hirosh, yeah I have both, I dont know if I want to do the half and half though, because this is the last time I'll see her for a good 3 months or so and it might look strange with two different shines. From what you say though, a gold metallic would look better with nXt?

yeah, in general, i like NXT on metallics. it's like this:

i don't exactly how you would describe it, but it seems like the clearcoat is very clear and allows the metallics to shine through. :nixweiss i did a 2003 toyota camry with a gold metallic paint, and up close, the metallics looked quite similar. i took pictures but they're on my home computer (i'm at work right now).



and what i was suggesting was after you finished polishing, on a section of the hood, try putting NXT and #26 side by side to see which one you like. and then use the one that you like on the rest of the car.



and there's nothing wrong with doing half the car with NXT and the other half with #26, i've done that with my Mach1 to see if i could see a difference. to tell you the truth, i couldn't. :D but that could be due to my color: Azure Blue.



oh, you should clean the interior with the woolite mix. you should use the AA or NXT Protectant to protect/dress the dash and other plastic parts. the NXT Protectant might be better to use since it says it contains some UV protection stuff.
