planing on finishing tomorrow

All I can suggest is to use a more aggressive polish, then if that doesn't work, use the next aggressive pad with that same polish. I don't want to suggest going TOO aggressive, but if that's needed, then bump up again to the next aggressive polish, then pad, etc. I don't have experience with a machine, but I'm just telling you what I've read when it comes to needing more defect removal :)

looks awesome, get some full car shots... where did you find the brush attachment for the PC? what did you use on the engine bay?

I echo the brush attachment question as well.

Nice 50/50s though, it looks like it is definitely going to be worth the work for the final result!

He probably means the brushes for the cyclo are what he is using.

ya, from danase

and for degreaser just some cheap stuff from ace and some simple green. I am ging to order some gallon jugs on line, nay recommendation's for an APC and degreaser?

i just looked at the hood this morning and there is some streaking....is it from the 845 on top of the poli seal?

how can i prevent this?

You did a lot of correction to get all those scratches & swirls out. I'm not sure there's enough paint left to get the bird etchings out 100%.

I use Simple Green as an APC, Woolite for interiors.

You did great work, show us the whole car!

thats what i was think, anyways i just got back form shucks and picked up some megs 40 to try it out and see how i like the shine, then next week after school starts im gonna put leather dye on the door handles and all other black plastic

Washed the car the next day and I guess the Collinite came off.

The Collinite doesn't "come off"... You might have applied too thick, and it ended up hazing. After a good wash, the hazing should disappear.

Wait a second, I have detailed more than one e36 and they were all clearcoated, even the 94 that I did recently.

Is it possible that it was either a repaint or that the clearcoat was so damn nasty it turned your pads black? Did you clay before polishing?

I once did a red mercedes that was clearcoated(1998), the paint was so bad my pads turned dark brown!

Either way AMAZING :goodjob correction for your first time, and if you want to wetsand you can probably ditch those etchings for good. Just make sure you use something real fine like 2500.

On a side note, I really really like e36s, pretty much my favorite BMW when you update them with hella projectors (not cheap ebay ones, the hella ones look OEM) and some (non ricer) LED tails.

Oh yea and also, all e36 headlights I have seen were glass, yours may just not be clear from many tiny stone chips.
