Up until this weekend I've only done car washing and some minor interior detailing, after reading the forums for a while I finally ordered a bunch of products.
For my first true (exterior) detail, I think things went alright, although it took really long being the first time, and my whole body is sore
. It was my first time using the PC and a whole bunch of new products.
Sorry no befores
and also it was raining out, so I couldn't get great after pics, they're all from inside my garage.
Here was my process, please make any suggestions where I could improve.
1) Washed w/ Griot's Car Wash
2) Clayed with Sonus Gray Clay (paint, glass, rims)
- used Optimum no rinse as clay lube
3) Cleaned tires and rubber trim with Mother's Tire and Rubber Cleaner
4) Polished with Orange Pad and Optimum Polish on speed 5 with PC
5) Applied AIO on speed 3 with black finishing pad.
6) Applied UPP on speed 3 with black finishing pad.
7) Cleaned exterior glass, clear plastic, and trim with AIO. But, on glass it didn't seem to buff out it a few spots. I went over it again with Stoners Invisible glass and seemed fine. I also cleaned interior windows with stoners
8) Used PB trim restore on tires, I didn't have anything else to use for tires, but turned out nice I thought
I probably needed to use a more agressive combo than orange pad and opt. polish to start but it was all I had, still I got most scratches out and the polishing step was taking super long so I went straight to AIO.
Here are the pics.
