First Click and Brag - 02 LS 430, HEAVY swirling w/UDM

I used to do a ton of detailing in high school and college that consisted of wash / wax / interior work. A good friend of mine got me back in the game after showing me what can be done by machine. I ordered a UDM and I have done a 66 Vette, an 02 LS 430, 07 Jetta, 97 Cavalier, and some other miscellaneous cars.

I definitely want a rotary after doing this LS 430. It took about ten hours and was my first paying job by machine. I managed to get a few good before and afters...

Next time I will take more pics, I was too busy cursing myself for underquoting the job, that Lexus paint was rock hard. Very strange for a Japanese Car. I do have to say that I was very impressed by the UDM being able to do so much correction. I was also very pleased to get his 3 cars on a maintenance contract and away from the car washes. He also has the Jetta and an 07 Suburban that will be well cared for now...

Excellent results!! But 10 hours is a LONG time. But believe it or not, you will get faster. Even with the UDM. I can't do a car unless I use a rotory because I'm way too impatient. But as I said, you WILL get faster the more cars you do. GREAT JOB!!

Yeah I definitely was feeling it after that Detail. I learned a lot though. And the flat black looked really nice in the sun.

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

Great job. I can speak for myself when I say it does get faster. It only took me 7 hours today to do a car using the UDM. Don't ask how long it took me to do my car...LOL

Excellent work, however, I can achieve that correction by hand in 30 mins. with OHC :kidding:.

Nice work on the hammered paint!

If you are going to get a rotary, I have one word for you "metabo."

After my next detail I am definitely getting a rotary. I was thinking makita though. NSXTASY is a good friend of mine and he got the Metabo only to have it overheat sporadically. Metabo could not fix it. The shop where he bought it from offered a replacement but I believe that he passed on it opting for a refund.

I am assuming this was an isolated incident? What are the pros of the metabo over a Makita or Hitachi? Obviously the grip looks to be more comfortable.

I am pretty open to anything right now and would gladly save my pennies for a better machine if the improvement is vast enough.

great job, looks like a new car again!! i'm curious how long did it take you start to finish?:waxing:

:usa

I have a couple LC Green pads, but haven't used them yet, as I use orange and white for everything. How do they compare to the orange pads? If they're a lot less abrasive, then maybe you could have saved some time and passes using orange with OC instead of green.

Good work on both cars!
