When I first viewed the car I know it is going to be a big challenge for me. The car is coming to 1 yr old and it has similar swirls and scratches found all over the car as shown in the pics below, and some of those are pretty bad. Water etched marks are also spotted. The initial impression is a 6-7 hours of hard work.

The work start at 1000hrs, a thorough wash was done on the car with Meguiar’s Gold Class Shampoo and after drying the car the real challenge started. First I started with #80 with a polishing pad, after working for 4 passes, upon inspection most of the swirls and scratches are still there. Now I know I’m facing some nasty swirls and scratches here. So without hesitation I switched to IP with a light cutting orange pad, after 4 passes about 60% of the defects were removed. With this rate of removal, I worry it is going to take me more than 7 hrs of work, so in the end I move to 3M Perfect III Rubbing Compound with the orange pad. This time round, around 80% of the defects are removed with 4 passes but it does cause slight hazing to the paint which can be easily remove with IP.
Finally I decide on my ‘attack’ plan,
Step 1 3M PIII RC with orange pad
Step 2 IP with polishing pad
Step 3 #80 with polishing pad
Step 4 #81 (Hand Polish) by hand
Step 5 #21 sealant by hand
Below are 2 photos showing the before and after. The treated portion on the left is the effect until Step 4 without the application of #21. All the swirls are removed except a few deeper scratches still remains.
After 6 hours of ‘battle’, below are some pictures of the finished 'product'.
