First bit of love for my STi

Well, it's been downright frigid here for a month straight which is not conducive to washing, and I refuse to go to the swirlomatic. I was painful to look at it in it's current condition, so I parked the STi in the sun and went to work. Actually I skipped work today cuz I had a root canal and needed a distraction from the pain...

Man the salt was everywhere, which sux cuz I still haven't had a chance to treat the car with Eastwoods Heavy Duty Anti Rust which means I'm going to have to flush out the panels really good in the spring. What a pain.


Used SS&S, Eagle 1 all wheel cleaner on wheels, and dried with S&G and waffle weave. Not bad for being 15 degrees outside.

Nice. Wish I had the guts to do that in this weather.
Mother Nature is gonna wash my car tonight/tomorrow.
 
Car looks great...and I know even if its going to get dirt again soon...it feels better just having it look that way for a short time.

Hope the mouth feels better

How did you keep the water from freezing to the car, It must be LOVE :love:.
Can't say i blame you it does look a lot better :bigups

Even though it was that cold out, the car was warm to the touch because the sun was out. I didn't expect the paint to be as warm as it was. It did freeze in spots on the shaded side of the car. As for the cajones, it really wasn't that bad. Two buckets of hot water, rubber gloves, a plastic hose nozzle, layers and a hat made it bearable... although I did get a weird look from the UPS guy who made a delivery. Yes, I am crazy, thank you. :crazy2:
 
Man it kills me to see that. You did a great turn-around even for a basic wash.

I simply can't stand to see nice cars get chewed up by salt. I will never live in a state that uses road salt.

Some times i take better care of my car than my wife:bonk:. At least my car always gives me a good time:rofl, and not talk back.:wall

Thanks Troy...I think, lol. I wish I had your climate down there. It's the end of January and you're detailing Lambos and Astons...in shorts probably. It stinks up here cuz now is the time when you really need to keep the cars clean, but you're the least likely to because of the crappy weather. It's a lose lose situation, unlesss ur :crazy2: like me.

How in the world did you use SS&S in 15 degrees? I can see using ONR or DP 4 in 1, but how did you rinse off the soap? Using hot water?

Well, I took the frozen container of SS&S, sawed the thing in half, then spread it all over the car like a clay bar. :hmmm: Kidding obviously.

Actually, I just used rather hot water in 2 buckets for the wash, and water right from the spigot for the rinse. Most panels on the car were quite warm just from the sun. The only spots where a thin film of water froze were on the plastic parts that were in shade. I didn't even notice it was that cold at all. Of course that could have been due to the hydrocodone I was taking. It's weird too, cuz as soon as I was done washing the car, my tooth hurt again. It must be love...:love:

love the WR blue paint on ur sti or any wrx imprezza!! it looks amazing cartfan. How did it handle in the snow there?
 
Thanks for the compliments on the paint. I almost got red this time, but I had to stick with the blue. Funny you ask about how it is in the snow. I actually drove on the OE summer tires for almost two weeks before I was able to get proper winter wheels and tires for it. All I can say is that it was downright dangerous in the snow with the summers. Now I have Michelin Xice Xi2's and the thing is unstoppable, with its traction control, locking differential and i-drive and such. For fun tho, the TC is switched off of course. :rockon
 
:drive:way to drive like u are in WRC rally. That is why i love driving my volvo 244dl in the snow( no electronic do dads) Just the driver and his skill to keep in control when it looks like u are out of control
