first autopian detail v. my 2001 metallic silver eclipse

Hi guys,

After hours of researching leading to an empty wallet (well worth it), I decided to undergo my first autopian detail. I got a PC this past Christmas, but was not able to use it since I don't have access to an outlet. Anyways, the paint was in decent shape with isolated swirls, so here was my process:

wash with meg's NXT wash

clay with mothers clay and QD

pinnacle swirl remover using yellow side of sfx applicator

GEPC

AIO

SGX3, wowo with 24hrs between coats

P21SX2, first coat a week after SG, followed by a second coat 3 days later.

In between coats, I washed using sonus gloss shampoo.

Wheels: received P21S gel cleaner, followed by AIOX2, UPPX2

Tires: Pinnacle black onyx

Trim: meg's #38

Here are the results: edit: Sean transferred my pictures into the body of this post so you guys don't have to click on each one. Thanks Sean!

nice car, and great detail... i agree with sean about the rims.. congratulations on ungirlifying that car (spelling??) what are the current mods?

That Eclipse looks amazing! Lots of sparkle in that paint. Very tasteful modifications. :up

The one thing I hated about my old 00 GT was the black mirrors w/red paint. I don't know why Mitsu decided not to color match the mirrors. :nixweiss

Thanks for the kind comments guys! I never thought my paint could look this good. This will keep me searching for the ultimate shine if I have not yet reached it. Those wheels are indeed MB AMG like wheels. I bought them last year and I was quite intrigued when MB picked that design for their 100K+ beast.

Anyway, as requested, here is a list of my modification. As for the future, once I graduate and purchase another car, I plan on a supercharged setup with upgraded brakes and suspension components.

I would like to say that I have enjoyed this site very much and I have learned and I'm beginning to know you guys more and more each day.

your eclipse's paint definitely has some bling to it now. great job. the metallics really do pop. and nice mods to your eclipse.

Is that burned paint by the exhaust? My brother had a 2001 eclipse like that with a body kit and also had the greddy exhaust,

anyways the exhaust caught the rear bumper part of the body kit on fire! So you might want to watch out for that, he chose to go back to the stock bumper but kept the rest of the body kit on it didn't look bad.

I do something similar. I do AIO x 1 followed by test sample of Poorboys Wheel Sealant. The UPP double layer looks very cool. I may try that soon as well.

This is a well detailed car.

Thank you guys for all the kind comments! I couldn't have detailed my car like this if it wasn't for the valuable information on this site.

The UPP on the wheels has considerably cut down on the amount of brake dust that settles on them, since sometimes I feel like my brake pad's sole purpose in life is to create insane amounts of dust (like BMWs)

Again, thanks for the great comments! I'm also seriously thinking about mobil detailing on the weekends to make some cash and to spend more time relaxing during detail therapy.
