First 5K

COME AT ME BRO
Well, tomorrow is my first organized race. I am running a 5K (3.1 miles) in Anniston - the Woodstock 5K. I hope to finish with a time somewhere around 25 minutes. :) It would be nice to finish a bit faster than that, but I am not going to push it too much.

I started running in December, and at the time I had gotten way out of shape (and could not run very far without being winded). I'm back in pretty good shape (although I still would like to get a little better) and ready to run! I have gradually built up my speed and distance over the past six or seven months. My long days are around 6-7 miles, and I enjoy them much more than track days, that's for sure. I have been running with another guy for the past couple of months, and he has really helped me make big gains in both my time and distance.

I figured I'd start small with the 5K and work my way up to longer events. My "goal" is to run a half-marathon in Birmingham in late winter if I like the atmosphere of the organized events.

For this to be a local event, it's a pretty big deal in the running world from what I've been told. Next year, it's supposed to be some sort of national event. I'll have to read up on that to be 100% sure. In any event, I am stoked.

Troy, Steve, and any other vendors out there reading - I will have jersey space available for advertising. For a small "fee" of course. :D Haha.

Good luck in the race...I ran marathons in the 80's...same as you took about a year to get into shape...lots of 10Ks

I ran LA City marathon three times....and tried to qualify for NY...never made it, before injuries stopped me.

Here is a pic, that was taken in LA...terrible but the only one that I have...You can pick me out...the one with his arms in the air

Again good luck and thumbs up for getting back in shape!
