Finished UPP'ing, how do I fix these problems

I have completed my 4 coats of UPP (for now anyway),...finally. I need to know what to do in regards to the following issues:

1. there is some tape residue (stupid blue painters tape,...only on 4 days) on various parts of the car. How do I remove this residue safely from headlights/tail lights, the silver trim Acura TSX's have (ex door handles and around windows etc,...the trim in between doors), and just incase I didnt see any,...from the paint? What would be safe for the silver trim and the headlights,......dont wanna mess that stuff up.

2. As expected there is residue/powder at the edges of where the tape was from when I was applying the UPP. What is the best way to get rid of this? Use a MF and wipe away? Or some QD and an MF? Im sure this cant really do anything too negative,....I am more concerned with the headlights and trim. What would you recommend for the door trim that "seals" the door and body when the door is closed,....just wipe if off (hopefully it will just wipe)?

3. Will my PB trim restore fix up any areas where UPP got on trim? I think somehow (I was VERY careful while taping up the car etc) a tiny bit of UPP got on the trim that goes along the roof. What should I do?

4. I was using a tiny screwdriver to get at the edge of a hard to reach piece of tape in a recess near the headlight (NO, NOT touching it against the paint or anything) and lost my grip as I was pulling it away from the car. It made a little scratch under the front headlight on the plastic bumper. What should I do? Can I use touch up paint,.....there are 4 UPP coats? Should I seal it and worry about it in the spring,.....I am guessing no? Advice please.

Thanks if anyone can help me out with suggestions/advice etc. I always feel my questions are ridiculous,.....everyone must roll their eyes.

Since you don't seem to be getting much response, I'll take a shot at a few of your problems.

I use 3m Adhesive and Wax Remover to remove adhesive. Available at most automotive and Wal*Mart stores.

Just a suggestion. Skip the painters tape. I have never taped a piece of trim and can't think of a time I regretted it. If you were using a rotary, then it might be a good idea, but with a PC or by hand, I'd skip it.

The QD and a MF would be my first choice. UPP has never stained trim or left any residue that didn't remove when I wiped the UPP off.

I have never used the Poorboy's TR, but I think the QD and MF would remove any left over UPP.

The 3M Adhesive and Wax remover should remove the UPP so you can apply some touchup paint. I would do it now rather than wait. Let the touchup paint cure for a month, then apply some UPP over the repaired area.

The only way you learn is by doing or asking questions.

Yeah, I dont usually mask off either and haven't had any problems. But when I did use the painters tape it was only for a few hours. I wounldn't have left it on for 4 days thats for sure. But some adhesive remover, APC or Goo Off will do the trick. For the trim, the UPP should wipe off and then apply some trim dressing. Next time try putting the trim dressing on before so if you do get a product on the trim you'll be able to just wipe it off with no problems.

NO WAY am I rolling my eyes, and I suspect others are not either.

the only ways to learn are to
1) make mistakes
2) listen to the advice of others / ask questions

I think visiting this site is the best way to avoid mistakes and to have the opportunity to question those who have already use the products / processes.

I think just about everyone on this site welcomes questions, and is here to learn / help.
Hope you like the UPP... :book:

Thanks for the help guys, it is greatly appreciated. A few other ppl said it was fine to tape off stuff like my lights etc with painters tape. I figured I would surely get stuff where I didnt want it. The blue stuff is supposed to be fine for 8 days (even out in the sun), but I guess that didnt hold true in a few cases. My friend is coming over so hopefully I can have a few pics up soon,.........hope the car look ok once its out of the garage.
