Finish Kare?

Hehe, I consider myself an Optimum, Victoria Wax, FK, 1Z, Menzerna, Meguiar's, and most importantly, ETC. guy. :D

sal, the 2180 needs a thorough massage. First coat will disappear into the paint (funny to look at) and can be grabby, second is usually better, and when the paint gets "saturated" with the product, it will be very easy. It is quite sensitive to underlying layers and needs a possibly clean paint underneath.

Gemini, the 216 and the PS are two completely different animals. The 216 is an LSP with light concealing ability. Looks best on lighter colors. OPS is a mild, but true AIO which adds clarity and nice glow. It has a unique working characteristics, and looks wonderful on its own.

215 is a more aggressive AIO with great optical qualities, nice durability. I like them both. OPS looks warmer on darks. 215 is very *objective*, color true, and naturally neutral.

Both FKs work great with a PC. OPS is rather a rotary specific product if you want to utilize its very fine abrasives.

Bence- I've heard about those 2180 characteristics before, and they somehow make me leery of using it on a fresh repaint, no matter what FK says about it being OK

don't forget FK146. I use this as much, if not more than 425 as it has some cleaning ability to it.

Yeah, I've been using FK146 more than I'd expected..got a bottle just to try it out, and it's quickly becoming my favorite strong-cleaner QD.

Accumulator, I've tried the 2180 on a fresh repaint only once, on a friend's green Civic, with absolutely no ill effects. It's just a very limited experience, so basically that's why I don't endorse it more often or louder.

Bence- Thanks for the info. I'm just *so* paranoid about paint not ending up at its max potential hardness....

sal329- I use the FK146 when something really needs cleaned...not so dirty that it calls for ONR (or conventional washing), but dirty enough that FK425 doesn't seem appropriate (e.g., the back sides of wheels after I drive around the block post-wash to knock the surface rust off the rotors). But that's just me; I don't have a lot of faith in the cleaning power of most QDs.

Edit- Clumsy fingers = typo on "Bence" :o

Sal-That's pretty much how and when I use it too. Also, I find it's good in door jams etc

As Accumulator points out, it seems to be an "in between" type product. Stronger than 425, cleaning power wise, but not ONR like either. The 425/146 gallon prices are so reasonable and that $5 shipping is hard to pass up, so I buy each product by the gallon.

I just used FK425 for the first time. I think it is my new go-to QD. Great slickness, and the anti-static aspect is great. Cleaning power isn't the greatest but I don't think that is supposed to be it's strong point anyways.

glad you like it, the first time i used it was hooked to! :D

The 1119 is excellant cleaner prior to any wax or sealant. Quickly removes all prior waxs and sealants ready for new applications of you favorite products.

Another thing I have noticed with the 425 is I don't get any streaking out it compared to some other QDs (PB Spray & Gloss seems to be a bad culprit for this). I usually two bucket at a local wand wash and could never seem to get my final QD wipedown post wash to come out streak free, even using a fine mist of product and a thick nap mf (something to do with the humidity up here maybe). Not so with the 425, I was stoked when I seen this the first time as well.

I do have a question regarding the FK1000 & Pink Wax. Do these have any issues bonding over a glaze?

At first glance I will say no but what glaze are you talking about?? They may have issue with an oily glaze such as RMG or Megs 7 but both would be ok with something like DWG, CG WMF, EZ creme, Prima Amigo etc..

So I guess I should have skipped the sample of 425 and ordered the gallon huh lol

order the gallon, use it for a while and if you feel you don't really like it that much, send the rest to me or BigJim LOL... :D
