Did some quick research using the links section here and came across finish kare.

It has been talked about a little bit here but not to any great extent

The site was quite interesting, I am interested in the decontamination system, the super concentrate shampoo and the cleaner-polish-sealant (kind of like AIO)

Obviously the system they have is not oxalic acid as it is stated on the site that oxalic acid fallout removers soften the clear coat (very true and damage exterior trim) *** BAD STUFF ***

I would like to buy some and try it out but the online store is only for US and canada customers

Anyone got lots of experience with this brand?

Accumalator is the only person I remember who's used this system.

You might try asking your question om the Mfgs. forum, there used to be a Finish Kare rep who contributed to this forum but I can't remember his name though

I would be interested to find out how a liquid removes imbedded brake dust etc

I've used some of their stuff. (not the decontamination kit, though). Their Pink wax is very solventy smelling. Their "qd" (blue) shines up paint well, and the water beading seems very good. I did a multi step (# 17-for swirls, 185-"1 step", 218-conditioner/sealant, and Pink Wax.) on 2 cars. A 91 Wild Strawberry Escort and a 2003 silver Sunfire. In both cases beading is still happening after 3 months. (The Escort has had a qd since, though.)

Brief summary-#17 seems mild. Worked on marring, but not so much on scratches (not through the paint).

Didn't see much difference between the 185 and 218, but it was one after the other, so maybe there wasn't much room for improvement regardless of the product used.

All were pretty easy on/off. The wax needed the most drying time (for me at least).

Right after using them I wasn't too thrilled with the look. Not bad, but not amazing. Very glossy, though. However, after a couple of weeks, there seemed to be better clarity to the reflections. On the website it says that it takes a while for the sealants to fully "cure" or "cationically bond" to the paint. Whatever. All I know it it looked better later.

2180 is supposed to be their most reflective sealant, but I haven't tried it.

Their rubber dressing (108 Top Kote) stays black a very long time. Is supposed to be water-based. Not a cleaner, though.

Hope this helps someone. :)

*Edit: I seem to recall that they say they ship across the world. Maybe e-mail them and they could help you out.

Setec's right, I haven't used the FK stuff, just ABC. But I can say that the ABC has *never* caused any damage of any kind. It works well for me and I highly recommend it. I clay while the "B" step is dwelling.

Remember that when FK talks about ABC being hard on paint/etc. they're talking about their primary competitor. Thousands of cars have been treated with ABC..

TOWT- the acidic liquid dissolves the ferrous contamination. Whether embedded in the paint or not, if the acid can work on it it'll do it's (chemical) thing to it. Within reason, of course, this stuff is a lot milder than it sounds.

I don't believe ABC comes in the convenient size kit the way the FK stuff does. So along with the absence of oxalic acid, that is what would motive me to get the FK rather than ABC

I know someone who used to work for Floyd Meguiar at Finish Kare and apparently the company has not been going anywhere since the late 80's - early 90's. Too bad because they apparently used to be pretty good with the R & D and coming up with unique products.

I dunno, the one-gallon-of-each kit of ABC worked out pretty well for me, and I'm not buying cars as frequently as I used to. Just doing the S8 and the MPV (neither one of which is exactly small) used up quite a bit, enough that I'll probably have to order more (well, at least more "A" and "B") the next time I want to decontaminate something.

I did probably mix up more "A" than I needed to, but I wanted to have enough solution in the bucket to wash "normally" with it. The "B" you need a lot of, as you have to keep it from drying and it's used undiluted.

I've used some oxalic acid fallout removers in powder, gel and liquid form and hated them. Very harsh stuff.

What they do to trim and certain paint is horrendous

Not saying that ABC is like that, it's probably the best one of the lot.

Besides the products I mentioned above, the rest seem like nothing revolutionary so I'll just try those.

There's no way a polymer sealant of any kind can last three years and as long as Klasse SG acrylic or Du Pont's ceramic one.

How did come to that conclusion? What test did you USE to make your statement TRUE. Please explain. No disrespect but that a strong statement about Polymer sealants.

Is finish kare affiliated with Meguiars, since the owners of both seem to be related?

Not anymore. Floyd Meguiar left "Meguiar's" in the '60's to start FinishKare. A falling out/disagreement, I guess.

Blood relation, not business relation, as far as I know.
