Finger making tiny scratches on paint?

I noticed today on my hood when I would take my clean finger ( pointer if it matter) and rub on the hood there would be tiny swirls and scratches. I was laying my finder flat on the surface like if you were getting finger printed?? Are my eyes playing tricks on me?

You are probably just marring the protective coating (wax or sealant). If you "rub" the paint with your finger... you can create tiny swirls.

Yeah, that's what I'm assuming . QD the area and see if the marks disappear.

i never touch my car if i dont have to, just to keep scratches, and oils off my car, any oil from others closing my door with their hands really shows up and i hate it.

try having a subaru with no window trim on the doors. EVERYONE closes your doors with their greasy hands. My car constantly has fingerprints on the edge of my windows
