Finesse II or Swirl Remover

I recently had my car painted (in Jan.) and I am getting ready to wash, polish, seal, and possibly wax my car for the first time. The body shop didn't get all the light swirls out of the paint and consequently I will need to remove them (using Porter Cable 7424.) I am confused though on which product would be the least abrasive as I do not believe the paint needs anything harsh...3M Finesse II or 3M Swirl Remover for dark cars.

Any information/assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt

Although 3M ranks them the same for "cutting" ability, from my experience, the SMR is less abrasive and is easier to work with as well.

3M is notorious for fillers, so it is a false impression. Many of us are very impressed with the Poorboy's Super Swirl Removers (SSR's). They are easier to use, less expensive, and can be used in the sun. They are offered here on PAC too, so you get your 10% discount. I have used both and will not go back to SMR.

3M FI-II is about equal to cutting power of DACP. FI-II is dry when compared to DACP and has very little fillers. 3M SMR is loaded with fillers and has very little cutting power.

If the swirling is lite I would try 3m Perfect It III Machine Glaze.

What is the application method?

Eric

I would try 3M PI-III Maching glaze with a polishing pad. If not step up to FI-II with a polishing pad (cutting pad if polishing pad does not work) then follow with PI-III MG.
