I decided to take it up a notch.

Makita 9227 rotary

I have been reading about the rotary for about 6 months...well, seriously reading.

There is only 1 thing i dont know yet, in all the threads ive read (hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of threads) everyone asks about the pads that comes with it but not one really got an answer. So what do i do with them? Useful for anything?
 
To tell ya the truth after all my research i found that everyone likes each machine for different/personal reasons.

So, i literaly just picked one :lol



The only 2 rotarys i wasnt interested in was the dewalt (to big and heavy) and the PC 7428 (dosent go bellow 1000rpm).
 
how much heavier is the dewalt than the makita? i'm interested in picking up one of these.

let us know how you like the makita!
 
Dewalt DW849 weighs 8.25 lbs

Makita 9227 weighs 6.6 lbs

Hitachi SP18VA weighs 6.4 lbs

Metabo Weight: 5.8 lbs



Hitachi seems to be sold out everywhere and the Metabo was to expensive.



IMO i got my moneys worth. I got the polisher, the bag and 2 pads for $169.00+$8.50 shipping.
 
Coupe, you are stylin now !! I would love to pick one of those up but I just dont think I would get much use out of it.
 
Coupe, nice going on the Makita. I picked up mine last august off Amazon for $154 shipped to my door. Same package you got. Helluva deal. I've never used the pads that came with it either but I do have a Neon hood to screw around with so I'm gonna have to try it out.

You're going to love the Makita; a serious excellent tool
 
Great but on the Makita, Coupe!



I bought the Hitachi today. It took a lot of searching cause they were all sold out everywhere. I got it for $174. I think it was a good deal. I checked all local stores yesterday and the cheapest the makita was $225. The Hitachi's were $299 and up but not one store had one in stock.



To me they are both great machines. I did have a couple of Makitas back in the day and they always ran smooth and precise. and I ran them to the ground on 35 foot boats.



Dewalts are just not worth it. I had one 3 years ago and it caught fire after a month. Could not handle the work load. They are way over priced also. They are just a rebadged new generation black and decker. Black and decker use to be good in the late 80's. I still have one that the cord just finally came out and I had a little fight with it. All I know it was shocking:bolt I am glad it broke cause it was an all steal one and weighed about 15 lbs.



I did try out a dynabrade yesterday and it was heavy and on start up it kicked fast and then slowed down. The speed dial control was hard to dial. To be honest I was not impressed at all. I was rather in disbelief cause thats what a lot of pros use around here. Reminded me of the dewalt that was a little more built.



For Pro use.. I would only suggest a Hitachi or Makita for the price. For what they are worth, they really are under priced. Lots of tool for under $200. :grinno:
 
Haha when the UPS guy was walking up the driveway with mine I yelled, "HERE COMES THE PAIN!" he kinda did a stutter step and looked over his shoulder. He had no idea what was in the box I realized after he drove away.

Hahahaha I'm dumb.

I will definately post my experiance with it (pics of course).

Its gonna be another 2 weeks though unfortunately. Since its spring ive got alot of projects around the house that have to get done.



Im not getting a scrap panel to practice on though. Im just gonna go ahead and practice with it on my truck. Right now im 90% anxious and 10% scared :lol

Im glad you up pick the Makita 9227 :2thumbs: I had mine for over 3.5 years and still kick arse!

Man, those 2 wool pads that comes with it.... is a killer. Get few of those LC CSS pads they are great for rotary. Good luck and have fun with it.

Im actually going to use my edge2K system since i already have it.
