Finally Tried the Twins

mpauly- If you can, get 4-5 layers of SG on there. In *MY* experience, the 4th-5th layers will make quite a difference, both in looks and durability. My 2nd-3rd layers didn't look like they were worth it, but the next two did.

Accumulator,

that's interesting info. many users have suggested that three layers is maximum needed to achieve the "look". I will take your advice and try 5 this time around.

Brian,

I don't think those posts are in the archives anymore. I think they were lost during one of the site outages. :-(

BillNorth! Hey, good to see you posting again!

That's an interesting way of applying KSG. Hmmm, maybe it's time to pay another visit to the twins. Keep us posted on how it goes! :up

mpauly, nice pics. I was also ho-hum about how my car looked with AIO and single coat of KSG, but after three coats the shine was tremendous.

Thanks again for the complements.

In the next week or two I'll try to get a 3rd (possibly 4th) layer of SG on there and see how it looks. I'll also try a S100 topper and report my findings.

Just want to share with you guys my Klasse SG experience.

I am now on my 8th coating of Klasse SG and based on my experience, I noticed a significant improvement in depth and gloss on my 2nd and 3rd coating. I am using about 2 oz. per coating thus, I am now about to finish up my 1st SG 16oz bottle... good thing I still have another 16oz bottle reserved.

From 4th to 8th coating, i have not seen much difference in depth and gloss but I still continue applying SG in order to thicken my SG coating... hoping that minor scratches and swirls will take the SG instead of my clear coat.

Another observation from 4th to 8th coating of SG... it seems dust and dirt do not stick that much to my paint surface (SG surface by now) as compared to my 1st to 3rd coating.

TIP:

I use Eagle One Wet, Wipe and Shine as QD in between washing and SG-ing. It's cheap and very compatible with Klasse SG since the product does not have any wax content. From the label, it states that it has "Flouropolymer" in it and not wax so it will not be aproblem for subsequent coatings of SG.

Oh great, this figures. I'll just add that to my unwritten list of "valuable info lost in server outages". :(

mpauly, can you comment on the differences in slickness between the AIO, SG, and S100 since you seem to have used them within days of each other to be able to tell any difference. Also, did you notice any significant increase in slickness with each successive layer of SG? How do they all compare to SEC in slickness, which is the slickest thing I have ever felt?

As far as slickness goes for me, SEC abd S100 wins out by a hair, but the twins are not far behind. I only have 2 coats of SG on, but I did find that the second coat made it a little more slick.

I have yet to top the twins with S100 as I wanted to get at least 3 coats of SG on, so I can't comment on the slickness there.

My car sits outside 24/7 and the problem with the S100 for me is that slickness is really diminished in a little over a week. The twins have stayed just as slick as day 1 after 2 weeks and just a wash. It rained here this Friday and the beads were still tight and uniform. If this keeps up, I'll be very satisfied.

OK, washed the car, QD'd with Sonus and got the 3rd coat of SG on this weekend. The color of my car (silverstone gray) probably has a lot to do with it, but I have to say I can't really tell a whole lot of difference in the appearance from the 2nd coat. However, the slickness factor went up considerably!! This 3rd coat put the twins a bit above SEC and S100 for me.

I think I'm done with coats of SG for now. I think I'll watch for durability and perhaps top a few panels with S100 and see if it's a marked improvement.

Happy for now.

The "Twins" are Klasse All-in-one (known as AIO here for short) which is a cleaner to clear up oxidation in the paint with some acrylic polymer protection. The second part of the "Twins" is Klasse Sealant Glaze (known as SG here) which is meant to use after AIO to give a longer lasting protective layer of acrylic polymer sealant.

You can use the search function to find out ENORMOUS information about these two products. The initials can be deciphered via the Acronym link on the left of Autopia's home page.
