Finally took some pics of the WRX after a detail (56K murder)

Ok just checking. I'm hardcore BMW guy and guys put M3 badges all over their regular 3 series just to look cool. I understand as I have an M3 front bumper, wheels on my 325, but they just don't have any M3 emblems on them. Car looks great- my friend just got an STI and one word...damn.

I know exactly what you mean. I'm not trying to pass my car off as an STi in the least... the STi is a beautiful, powerful car, but my car is also beautiful (IMO) and even MORE powerful (~350-370hp at the crank vs. 300hp for the STi).

I'm a huge Bimmer fan as well... my next car will probably be an M series BMW (hopefully after Chris Bungle :angry ... I mean, Bangle, gets fired).

looking good man!

what other mods do you have?

Thanks for the compliment!

Mods: whew... let's see:

I have a stage 4+ under the hood (VF34/M2 TMIC/STi injectors/Walbro fuel pump/Ecutek tuned by Rallispec) and I'm pushing 18-19psi of boost. My exhaust is JDM uppipe, TurboXS stealthback with cat + STi performance muffler. My suspension mods are STi struts/STi lowering springs/STi top mounts. My exterior mods are JDM STi HID chrome headlights, JDM STi grille, JDM STi front lip spoiler, OEM optional rear lip spoiler, and factory wing. Interior mods are custom leather + suede seats, suede door panels, carbon fiber interior trim, STi shifter trim, STi short shifter, MOMO knob, Omori boost guage, G-Tech competition pro performance meter, and Valentine one. Wheels are JDM 18" Limix Linea Sport BE-5 riding on 225/40/18 Sumitomo HTR+. Audio mods are Sony Xplods in the doors and OEM sub under the passenger's seat. Protection comes via several secrets that I care not to divulge ;).

I only have brakes left to do, then I'll be satisfied with the car :D

Wow, great looking car. I can tell you spent a lot of time on that detail job. Esp in the first couple of pics - where your reflection shows as clear as glass - that the lawn mower hasn't seen you in days! LOL.. j/k. Great work!

His car is sweet... here's a pic of it:

Amazing car. Amazing shine.

I would do my car up the exact same way you did, the only thing i would probably do different is get rid of the badging at the back, imo it looks cleaner like that.

Enjoy the beast of yours. :up

Thanks for the compliments, guys!

I don't want to get rid of the badging because I think the rear end looks bare without it. I may go this route in the near future:

How come no FMIC w/ all the turbo work done. After knowing that there is something to back it up under the hood, I am truly impressed. Brembo's and you are SET! I bet you can rearrange some internal organs launching that thing!!

FMIC = more lag. I wanted a totally streetable, drivable, Vette/M3/Cobra/Evo killing machine (no offense to owners of the aforementioned cars :)).

I'm gonna get me some STi red 4 piston calipers up front, and some STi red 2 piston calipers in the rear. These will be matched up with crossdrilled rotors at all corners. Unfortunately, Brembos will not fit under my wheels... I checked already :(

About rearranging some internal organs... well, let's just say that according to the G-tech Competition Pro meter I have in my car, I hit over 1G of accelerative force on a good day ;)

Obviously I don't know that much about turbo technology, but how does the FMIC produce more lag. It would seem to me that the colder air would be denser, thus allowing a quicker combustion to occur. Also if you are running that much HP with the single turbo, isn't there going to be quite a bit of lag anyway? I'm not criticising at all because it is a awesome car, I'm just trying to understand how it all works? 19 lbs is a lot, damn!

Greg,

Because of the location of the turbo (near the firewall on the passenger side), and the locaton of the throttle body, you have to run piping from the back of the engine bay (the turbo outlet) to the FMIC, and back from the FMIC outlet to the throttle body. All of that piping takes a long time to pressurize, which creates more lag. Cold air is better, but sometimes, it comes at a price . . .

Yea FMIC vs. TMIC (top mount) is a WHOLE nother story. But he said he wants totally streetable which would the TMIC would facilitate perfectly. From one Subie owner to the next, nice car!

Thanks man! I may end up going for a FMIC in the future, but I will only do that when I can make the Rex a track only car, and have another daily driver... like a Ferrari ;)

Just put a coat of Poorboy's EX sealant on the paint...

reflections baby!

I think that it passes the beading water test:

I'm really thrilled about this stuff. It's reflective, like a good sealant, but it lets the true color of the paint shine through, like a carnauba. The blue tint of the car really comes out with this stuff. I can't wait to see it get better with a few more coats :D

Bob your not helping me out here. I want a weekend car and Im REALLY considering a used WRX. Seeing these pics of your car and reading your performance mods makes me drool. Stage 4 scares me b/c of the transmisson issues plus the 5k+ to get it. Man your car has got to be my favorite WRX (I lurk on clubwrx.net also)
