Finally a dry day

This morning I woke early and decided just to give the car a wash. It was still just getting light when I started so no before pics here. So gave the wheels a wash and then the car. I cannot believe I used to use just the one bucket....all that muck put back on my car before :scared

So then it was dried, a quick wipe inside with a damp MF, dressed the side trim with Autoglym Bumper Care and that was me done.............

.........oh no it wasn't......my goodies were calling to me "please use me now.....i want to escape this bottle......release me....."

So I gave in........out came the P21s GEPC and the wax. I went over the car with the GEPC first, wipe on.....wipe off.....WOW so easy and sooooooo smoooooooth :D

Then out came the wax, same again wipe on....wipe off. Just got the front end done and the clouds gathered...but luckily it stayed dry. Part way round the car I dropped my applicator :( so picked it up and................went for another :p. Now its confession time.......I errrrrrrr forgot to GEPC the sills so just waxed em instead.....i'm still a newb and its allowed :o

I have to say I was very impressed with the finish so out came the (not so good) digicam. Most of the shots make the car look dull. Dunno if thats cos it was just above freezing when I'd done and cam had been in nice warm house. Oh well here's a couple of nice reflection shots.

After this I went to fill up with petrol, wish I'd had my cam with me cos the colour looked amazing under the forecourt lights. Best I've seen it look yet. All I can say now is thank you Autopia and........hurry up spring then I can have another go with ALL my goodies :D

Thanks jgv

I've added another pic now. I know it looks like the lights are on, but thats the flash. Apart from re-sizing and hiding number plate, photo is untouched.

Very nice :up

It was a huge relief to wash the car this morning, after three weeks of daily use. Only had time for a very quick wash. Didn't even have time to QD it after finishing the dry and I noticed that a few dribble marks had left dirt, so my wash was too quick :( Lucky its still a mass of swirls.

Mind you I still took the time to put some Autoglym SR on the bonnet and admire the sharper reflections there (its the only panel I have done any work on so far) - still haven't got any pads for the PC (didn't stop me buying the Makita 6040 - two orbitals and no pads - duh!)

Reason for the hurry was that it was the Traction club Christmas lunch. He he he - they have a lot to learn about paint preparation. I am going to enjoy getting that car back soon so I can start working on it. The paint is truly terrible but its black and I want to see everyones reaction to my car with terrible but mirror black paint to their perfect but dull paint :D

very nice indeed!

I woke up with all the best intentions of cleaning at least one car today..... But then the hangover kicked in and laying in front of the fire watching tele all day was just far to appealing lol :D....

Oh well, I've got a couple of weeks over christmas to do all the detailing I can muster, so I don't feel I've let the side down to much! ;).

Cheers :).

Cheers, I was just gonna throw on some AG too, but thought, well I might as well have a 'getting to know you type session' :p Am mighty glad I did now

Christmas Lunch = typing under the influence??? :lol

Have you at least switched on the 2 RO's? If so, which is the smoothest and quietest?? I can't decide which way to go :nixweiss :nixweiss I'm tempted to the Mak but then I hear about the amazing price (for some :grrr ) of the pc. There can't be many people (if any more) with both.

When you getting your traction back?

Alex you lazy devil, today was the perfect day, dry and above freezing, well about 37-38 where I am. Now you've said you'll do it, we need the pics for proof when you've done :d

ps. I read your reply to the Lowes pc deal, as I say above I don't know which way to go at moment, but a decision will be made this holiday

BTW you having a January sale ?? ;) :p

Dam! lol..... Let myself in for it now...... Intend to crack on with the PC over the holidays so I'll post some pics (maybe ;)) when I've done a good enough job! Either that or just blame the camera for not taking very good pics! :D

The Makita hasn't arrived yet, so probably won't see it this side of Christmas :( From the reviews the Makita running on forced rotation is much smoother than the PC. I didn't really intend to buy this - I was looking for a rotary. I might find which I prefer and then sell the other. Still, it just goes to prove that I made the right decision in cutting off the US plug from the PC and fitting a UK 110v plug as the Makita is also 110v and I would have needed to go out and buy another transformer. Its not as though cutting the plug off would have made much difference to the warrenty....

I hope to have the Traction back by the end of January - wonder if I can get the garage sorted out by then?

Nice pics

My thoughts as well. I am sure it would be quicker and cheaper to send any replacement parts over here rather than send the entire PC back to the States

AndyC its good to see you back here :)

I'm gonna have to ditch my digicam for car photo's and go back to my 35mm camera. Then when the weather gets better and I get the Klasse on I can take some proper pics. Roll on spring :D

Cheers! I'm sticking with 35mm too especially as you get a CD Rom when developed so easier to download (he says with 2 undeveloped films of my car pics!)

I only have net access at work and was off for the Christmas week as my daughter came to stay with us. Have also given myself a sh1tty cold by cleaning 2 cars in the freezing cold on Sunday - DOH!

Ah ha, I wondered why your posts suddenly stopped. So its 1hr work and 7 hrs here :p. Sorry you got cold, but you enjoyed yourself in the process......you got 2 nice clean cars :)

Haven't cleaned mine since these pics, not too dirty at moment and I'm hoping to have a sample of QEW soon, so don't want to wash it one day and have that turn up day after.

Who does the cd roms and do you still get the normal prints at same time? How much is it these days? It's been a while since I got a film developed.......am not admitting how old film is in my camera, but i'll be amazed if they print properly!

Boots do a CD Rom for a small extra charge and so do Jessops. I need to get some pics posted soon - think there's a few good uns in there.

1 hour working - what could you possibly mean.....??? More like 12 minutes!

Well at least you guys still have your pride and joys to clean!!! :D.

Sold mine today. Have to see if Ive got any half decent pics to put up, the digicam just doesnt seem to take good enough pics! (although I'm sure it's really just me ;)).

Right.... What next.......

:)

Nice one Alex - now you just gotta find that mint R32.....happy hunting mate! Did you get close to what you were after?

Pretty much what I wanted and the bloke has already phoned to say how chuffed he is, so bonus :).

Yup... Skyline time! :D...

Sorry to hijack your thread Tony..........

no problem Alex, hope you get sorted soon.....

I was without a car for a few weeks before I bought my beemer.......what a nightmare public transport was......never again!!!

Lol... Well I've got my Rover 600 daily car. That will have to do until I find what I'm looking for. Have only done 1700 in the Impreza in the last year so it wasn't like it's suddenly been whipped away from me :).

Unfortunately the Rover doesn't quite match the handling of the Scoob! lol....
