Final step use with PC?

Does anyone apply a LSP with a PC? I'm thinking say like on a minor detail where a customer just wants a wax can I just use the PC?

Yes you can. I don't know if it speeds up the process or not and personally, I'd rather apply the LSP hand especially if its a carnuba. But I'm curious about using a PC to apply Menzerna's FMJ which I will be doing to mine once I get back home from college for the summer. Any opinions?

You will lose a lot of product if you use the PC for a LSP. The only time I'd consider it is when I'm applying a sealant, but my first choice to apply an LSP is by hand.

Yea that's what I figured. You'd have to put a lot on the pad initially to have it work effectively. And I'd rather not waste precious FMJ doing that.

You can apply a thin even coat of product with a PC and that has its benefits.
That said, the only time I use the PC, (with a finishing pad), for applying an LSP is when I have had the PC in use for polishing.
With the LSP's I use, it doesn't seem like it is worth the effort to get out the PC just to apply the last step.

i do it all the time .. i save product by doing it .. i usually use a blue edge pad on speed 4 and it lays down the product real thin .. i dont understand why someone wouldnt use the pc for this step...

I found the same thing. I can lay down an ultra-thin layer of LSP with a finishing pad, whereas I always seem to use a lot more when I apply by hand. Probably just me.

For sealants (usaully liquid) I use the PC but that's only if it's the first layer. I feel like I'm able to put a nice thin layer of sealant down. However, if I'm going to do another layer the next day, I'll do it by hand to ensure that the PC won't remove any of the previous sealant. I think that the product usage by hand and PC is about the same. I can do many panels with one application to a PC pad because it spreads and lasts a while. By hand, I use less product per application but I apply it to the applicator more ofter. For carnauba paste waxes, it's all by hand here.

I have applied FMJ by hand and by PC, and I can get a thinner, more even layer with a PC. What I do is put a thin "X" of product on the pad, place the PC on my hood and lightly rub the pad across a small area of the hood to work the FMJ into the pad. You will be amazed how far that first "X" will spread before you have to add any more product.
I wipe the pad across the hood very lightly, and have never had the pad induce any micro-marring or scratches.... and I have a black car and 1000W halogen lights, so I would definitely be able to see it if I did.
Just my 2 cents.

I use a Pc is much much faster, also as mentioned it applys a thinier more even coat. The big one for me however is that the wax needs to be heated to proppy adheare to the paint. It is hard to do this with just your arms so a pc or rotery really helps

Not sure I agree with this... I haven't had a problem applying or removing waxes or sealants whether is was by hand or machine in any temperature.

I do not buy that for one second. I have never applied a wax via pc and I have always had great results.

Depending on the LSP I generally use the PC to apply.
Same for removal except I use a wool pad covered with a terry or MF bonnet. Works great for me.

What the heck??? I cant say "nubba"?
If you mean n-u-b-a, then no, you can't.
I don't know why, but the censor program doesn't like the word xxxx.
Carnauba works fine, though. :)

Were you possibly referring to paste waxes since liquid carnauba could be applied quite easily with a PC?
