fillers stay under sealant???

Hey all..

Real quick question .... first - you know how alot of glazes etc. have fillers to cover swirl marks.

If I applied say Meg's Machine Glaze with rotary (after using DACP), firstly would all the fillers be lost when I then apply AIO to the surface? secondly, when I've applied UPP to it - will that 'lock in' the fillers as it is now a layer above it???

so...when I wash the thing, will the fillers stay in for much longer?

BTW....has any1 used Megs Machine Glaze??? i've heard how good it is ..... I have deep crystal step 2, which i've heard is alot like #7..

wonder if mac. glaze would out-do #7 if applied with rot. or DA?

aheyn,

I believe the AIO will remove much of the fillers/oils.

UPP might seal the fillers that are left for a short time, but not long. Polish fillers tend to dissipate rapidly no matter what they are topped with.

I've used the machine glaze, #5, #7, and #81. I prefer the #81 out of all of them. However, all of them are nice products.

Ideally, I would recommend that you use a more aggressive product like DACP, or SFP to remove the imprefections as best as possible before the #3, and not rely on the fillers to be long term.

Just my 2 cents.

yep i know what u mean...thats the plan - I was going to use DACP and then #9 with rotary to try and get rid of as many swirls as possible.....then use #3 or likes to fill any that are left.

How could I minimise the amount of fillers AIO takes out??? not put too much pressure ?

If you want the fillers to stay don't use AIO. There is no need to use it once you've used an abrasive product to remove as many swirls as possible and then have used a filler to make the rest as invisible as possible. This is the prep work and now it's time to go to your sealant of choice.

I don't think using less pressure with AIO will have any effect on how much filler it takes out as AIO is, I think, primarily a chemical cleaner rather than an abrasive cleaner.

Plus I think anything that is a filler product would also be somewhat oily? (Just my experience) - and UPP would not bond very well.

FIllers will in fact stay under sealant and help the finish last longer. The trick is to find the right products to work together. Although I believe every sealer will remove some filler.Just some less than others

I have used the Machine glaze and I love it ... It does have some polish in it so it does increase the shine and remove very slight swirls and then fills some too.
I have applied UPP directly on top of it and it seemed to work fine.
I have also used Meguiars NXT on top of it with no problems.
After several washings, both products were still beading water and the cars had a great shine.
I have always applied Machine Glaze with a rotary ... I understand you can use a PC as well but I wonder if you would get the same polishing characteristics.
