FI-II + Yellow Pad not enough, what now?

I'm having trouble getting rid of a light, but long scratch on the hood of my black Maxima. Let's call it an arc from about the 9:00 to 12:00 position, on a clockface with a 10" diameter. (Sounds like poor washing technique doesn't it? :o)

I tried FI-II with a PC using a yellow CMA pad (2x), plus 1x SMR with a yellow pad as well. It improved for sure, but it's still there. I can't feel it with my fingernail, so I assume I can still get rid of it.

So what now? Do I stick with FI-II and try a wool pad, or do I go with a higher abrasive (what would that be?) and stick with a yellow pad? Or do I go FI-II + yellow pad x10 or is that just --> :wall

Thanks Autopians!

To save time step up to the lambswool pad and the 3M FI II. If that doesn't work DACP with lambswool pad (or a Fine cut compound.)

You can go 10X with 3M FI II, just takes more time. Instead of 2 passes with a light compound, you might go and work in the 3M FI II for 12 passes. Results are meant to be the same, removal of the scratch but at the cost of time for the 3M FI II.

You might want to think also about just trying to rub that one scratch out by hand instead of cutting down all the paint around it too. Try a search for scratch removal threads. Good luck.
