Ferrari F40

Hey guys; thought this car might be worthwhile to post. I have a few more I'll get to tonight I think.

1991 Ferrari F40, couple thousand miles on it and and a few too many hack detailers. It was pretty swirled up, lots of holograms; the paint was very soft. Actually it was very thin too, you could see the cf weave through some of the panels. Anyway, it made for a long day, by the time I was done it was dark so the afters are pre-wax.

Process was:

Clay w/riccardo clay

HTHC/orange @ 1600

106ff/white @ 1300

silicone wash

cleaner fluid by hand

swissvax mystery by hand

mothers mag/alum polish on all the metals

I couldn't get very good befores because my silly flash broke, so the on camera flash kept going off. Sorry about that.

Anyhow, here is the hood, top half unpolished, bottom half polished. There was a pretty marked color change, single stage paint and all.

Same spot, all cleaned up.

More attempted befores, bleh.

Later, after the wax... sorry it was inside, as you can see it was 11pm, and dark out. :(

Curious as to what a silicone wash is? Sorry if this has been discussed before. Beautiful work as always. You're a true artist.

Those cars are so freakin' cool!! I love how your photos always come out. Great job on the detail. Post more!

Seriously....just blown away right now. A 16 year old car that looks brand new again. I don't care if its a garage queen, that is OUTSTANDING work. The paint is wet and deep and looks perfect.

Oh sorry, should have mentioned it. It's hit temp prep wash, basically a silicone remover. I use it after polishing to get any residual oils off the car. I used to 50/50 isa/alcohol, but prep wash also allows me to remove dust and stuff, so I like to use it.

Thanks.

I doubt that there is more than 1 F40 in the GTA but I'm pretty sure I saw that car a few weeks ago on the 407 near the 400. I pulled up next to it window down the driver looked over I gave him a thumbs up he smiled dropped a gear and shot off down the HWY.

Amazing sound!!

Great work!!
