Ferrari 360 swirls are killer, what's your best compound?

the 3M Extra Cut at about 1800 RPM's. Work until a dry buff, inspect and repeat...

After try a good middle polish with a moderate pad (I prefer SIP on a green german foam pad) and work it very well, making sure to feather the RPM down after the polish is broken down. Go for perfection on this step, and I find it absolutely necessary to wipe the paint with a solvent to inspect the work.

Thanks Todd!

I have Hi Temp Akrya Clean. I dont know if it's really solvent enough, but it is an oil and wax remover to my knowlege. What's the best source for a green german foam pad?

Wade, Sounds like you have a good idea of what will be required.

3M ECC with either LC purple foamed wool, Edge Yellow wool or the megs wool.

SIP with either the newer Megs diamond yellow or LC green german.

3M ultrafina with blue CCS, 3M blue foam or Megs diamond black finishing.

Achilles99, Did you have a viper in the past? I think we have meet at an auctocross in Macon before back when I had my silver Z06. :)

Yep, I went through a Viper stage (I think I had 6-7 various versions). I definitely hit Macon several times for autox, perhaps in a red or red/silver GTS? I remember a couple of silver Z06's at Macons... one of which hit the wall at Road Atlanta during one of the track events I was at. I hope that wasn't you? Thanks for giving Wade and I a few options to try next.

Todd - Thanks for the input, and reminding me of paint depth. I'll borrow a paint depth gauge from a friend of mine, and measure. That should tell me whether or not the car was repainted in more spots than I know of!

Wade - Car looks good enough for me, but I appreciate your desire for perfection. I'm willing to use my car as a learning vehicle for us both, as long as the paint is thick enough. Oh, and if my wife and daughter give me a free pass for garage time :)

I dont think it will be a problem. Just make sure it's OK with Mambo, and make sure there aren't any woodchips around! :D

I thought I remembered your screen name. No walls for me at RA, but I might know who you are talking about. Ryan now has a Ford GT and a blower on his 96 GTS. Does Chris still have his viper or has he moved on as well?

you guys talking about SCCA stuff? What division you guys in? Yall should come to some races down in the mid-east! We were at summit point yesterday. we took a 3rd in class. There was a red ferrari there actually... and MAN! did it need some detailing.

I heard Ryan had a Ford GT (and that Pete was babysitting it while Ryan was overseas). I just sold my blown blue/white GTS, 1000hp. Too much for the track. Chris got rid of his Viper, and bought an M3 to tide him over until he made partner at the law firm (I guess an M3 looks more professional :) ). He's about to get rid of the M3 and get the new Viper coupe (he made partner).

Daniel - I raced the IT7 class in the SE region. Track events in between. Haven't tracked the 360 yet, thinking about renting Little Talladega with some friends to run (it's only about $1500/day to rent. Get 10-20 guys together, and you've got a cheap track day).

Oh wait, this is a detailing forum. I need to get the swirls out of my car :)

haha well hey, if you ever want a cheap way to learn and have a track day look up car guys. My dad and all his buddies are instructors. They are ALL great fun to go to! The 1st owner is a cool guy too. He owns an Aston martin, If everything goes to plan i will be working on it at some point.

Did you ever know jeff wendell? He has raced a few cars over the years. A 356 speedster made for miles colier by overby. Along with that he raced an mr2, a GTI, and our latest is a neon from the old neon challenge. This is the last year that the neon is legal so we are probably buying tom longs (grandam racer) old SSC honda civic... or maybe a spec miata.

But lets keep this thread on track. PM me if you wanna talk racing any more! I might have a car ude be interested in :secret

,Daniel
