fender flare removal

Me and my friend removed the fender flares off his 2006 tahoe but now there are either scratches where the paint was or just real stubborn double sided tape. How can we find out if these are scratches or tape and if it is either of them how do we go about fixing it. We tried goo gone but its not doing the trick but it does seem to make it look better. Any suggestions?
 
The double-sided tape will be above the surface, for starters... probably scratches, though. Fender flares, mud guards, and even door moldings are bad about scratching the paint if they are not cleaned out between themselves and the door.
 
We took the truck up to the body shop and the guys there said they could take care of it in about an hour. I guess we will find out later this week.
