Feedback anyone?

I'm looking to replace the factory wheels and tires on my new '04 Honda Accord Coupe and have been browsing at TireRack looking for alternatives. So far I have come up with 3 choices in 17x7 on which to mount Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 225's

ASA AR1's in chrome

AT Italia Alps in bright silver (17.5)

O.Z. Superleggera in light grey

This isn't so much a question about the look of these, but more a question on wheel quality and weight.

Anyone out there with direct experience with these brands or can anyone offer make and model that would be comparable.

I appreciate any input offered,

Thanks

I hate to say it, but I've been told all three you are looking at are prone to damage easly, I think you should look into forged wheels, unless there from a high quality name like BBS. (IMHO)

FWIW - just received much larger than expected bonus check today, so will be purchasing to BBS RX chromies......

A coated finish would probably weigh a bit less if that matters to you. Pics?

Scott, why would the chroming process add weight to the wheel? My guess would be that the removal of whatever coating that is there and the polishing of the raw metal would be about the equivalent of what is added in the chroming process. There should be very little if ANY weight gain.:nixweiss

I believe it has to do with the copper plating used as a substrate in order for the chrome to adhere to the wheel. I remember seeing long ago a wheel where the chrome had been badly applied, and was coming off to the extent that I could see the copper plating underneath. I do not know if the process has changed since then, but this would add considerably more weight than paint, which is essentially plastic.
