Hey Yal

I have been using the same exact window towels for close to two years now, and recently they are starting to show their age. (Detail king blue wintow towels). they leave some sort of residue behind, i dont know if they are just not cleaning anymore like they should. i want to try a different line of towels specific for windows. I see that some like waffle weave microfiber for the job. any suggestions?,

Thanks,

Nick McGuire

Here are the ones that Accumulator and I really like:

Lint Free Towels, 150 Count - Glass Cleaning - Car Care - Griot's Garage

My formula for stubborn streaks or generally dirty glass is to use a dedicated sponge or pad or even a mitt for glass, spray the glass and sponge/pad/mitt with cleaner, agitate, than squeegee off with my never-used-on-paint California Water Blade. Then follow up and finish off with the Griot's wipe. You could substitute it with a glass MF, a huck towel, etc. It all depends on the degree of the dirtiness of the window or the streaks. I've been having good luck combating humidity-induced streaks down here with this technique so far.

Yep, Tom. This technique would probably be a lot messier on the interior of the windshield, unless maybe you mask off the dash with some towels first, but chances are the interior will respond just fine to typically spraying the glass and then wiping it with the Griot's wipe.

OK, thanks, that's what I figured.

I'm having a terrible time with the glass on the inside of my car. It almost needs to be cleaned every darn day. I haven't found anything that seems to really get the glass clean, I don't know what's causing it, but it's the worst of any car I've had. (I'm starting to wonder if the 303 I used on the dash a couple months ago is causing it. Somebody else mentioned the same :( )

I feel your pain! You have a pretty new Audi, right? For several months after I got the Accord, I had the same thing. :(

Yeah, an '11 A4. I got it in April. It's really only recently that I've noticed this, probably past 8 - 10 weeks. I think it might coincide with my purchase of the 303 protectant.

I've had plenty of new cars before and never experienced such a severe case of this fogging. I've got 6 or 7 different glass cleaners sitting in the garage at the ready. I am getting the glass clean, but it needs to be done again within just a day or two. Not sure if it might be related to the very high humidity we've been enduring, or perhaps extra warm summer temps this year.

About a year ago, it was really bad on my Accord's interior glass. I'd hadn't yet been experimenting with the squeegee method at the time, but what worked for me was Autoglym Glass Polish. Kind of a chore to do all the glass, but it did make a difference and follow up cleaning was much easier. Maybe it will do the trick for you.

Bill, you're talking about using the glass polish on the inside?

(I have glass polish at home. I think it's 1Z but have only used it on the exterior.)

I'm thinking about an aggressive cleaning of the dash where I applied the 303. However, others have said it can be most challenging to remove in cases where you have over-spray.

Thx.

Yep, Autoglym on the inside to kill all that hazing and film. If you're going to clean the dash, do that first, then do the interior glass.

For some reason I can never get auto glass as nice as I want it with glass polishes. Autoglym and 1Z both left some kind of smeary something that I simply couldn't get sorted out 100%

Tom P- FWIW, I've had some new Audi loaners for fairly extended periods, and none of them exhibited that fogging...maybe their interior materials don't play nice with the 303 :nixweiss

I know, and it's a recent occurence. Our other car never had done it, I rarely have to clean the (interior) glass on it.

I did pick up comments on another forum that someone experienced a similar issue after using 303. It's pretty bad on my car, you'd think the interior glass hadn't been cleaned for months...and I hate looking out thru filthy glass :(

Ive been putting 303 on my Audi dash since new. I'm really wondering if it could just be the case of new interior materials off gassing :nixweiss, but to play it safe ,after all is cleaned up ,maybe go dressing free for a while.

The Autoglym Glass Cleaner as a interior haze killer was a let's try and see approach for me. It was along the same concept as the old school Glass Wax approach. It worked for me but I experience hazing on the exterior glass from the environment at least for half of the year, so I'm never fully free of it.

Griot's glass cleaning mf soaked in Invisible Glass, followed by Griots's Lint Free Towels (can actually be washed in washing machine a few times, so they are worth the price).

If they need a second run, distilled water/Griot's Lint Free. All in straight lines so you don't see "circles" if the windows fog up on a humid day lol.

I just use Cheapie ProForce on the short nap side - streak free everytime. Comes down really to your technique. That is, assuming all your towels are grime free and cared for properly.

On a side note, I wish IG worked for me, its the only cleaner that I have never had good experiences with despite everyone else having a great time with it - saddens me really as its so cheap.

I have recently been using the latest version of Viking Car Cares glass towels. The new ones have a smooth side and a side with a very short nap. (the short nap side is new) These have worked really well for me. I have so many different types of towels and wipes and applicators in my 'dead glass cleaning tool bin' it's pathetic.
