Leather backing, genuine "leather/wool" pads?
Never wash them, have several that are over 5 years old done numerous vehicles.
I clean them as I go with a pad spur (pad tool) every once in a while blow them cleaner with compressed air.
If they are really "overloaded" with product, put that pad aside to let it air dry, and put on another one.
Later, when the loaded pad is dry, I do the spur and air cleaning.
Been doing that to these expensive pads for over 55 years.
Leaves the natural lanolin in them, washing will remove that, plus washing makes the leather backing stiff and causes it to shrink, not good.
