Favorite clay?

To me...the areas I need to clay the most are the hood and side skirt areas which have a lot of rain and mud spray from the other cars when it rains (which it has a lot, recently here in Hawaii)...

I like the idea of polishing before using clay but it seems to me that removing polish residues is an easier task if the surface is clayed. Anyone agree?

BTW, I use claymagic on my customer's cars and Pinnacle on my car.

I like to clay between the washing and polishing steps. I'd rather have the clay pick up as much embedded debris as possible before it winds up in any of my PC pads.

As for brands, I prefer the clay manufactured by Erazer (Mother's, Poorboy's, etc.) as I think it's a bit easier to knead. Clay Magic clay isn't as soft, but the end result is equally good.

I agree with marj that the claymagic is tougher to knead that the mother's clay bar. I still personally prefer the claymagic because I can feel it removing the contaminants more than I can with the Mother's. Both good claybars though and mother's is much more pliable.

Has anyone used TOL's claybar. I just got one and it is huge! I haven't got a chance to use it yet and wanted to know if anyone else has.
