Favorite car soap?

is 1z PP your pick for hand polish then? I mean I'd like to get some correction done--but i just don't know how efficient it's going to be if I do it by hand =[ Which is why I'm guessing polish should at the very least be done (figure there's 0 protection on my friends car he said he hasn't detailed since he got it--and that was years ago and the detail was done by the dealer i assume)

Or something from Meguiars (Ultimate Compound or Scratch-X v2.0 come to mind).

It won't be efficient, simple as that. Period. But it can be moderately effective if you work hard enough.
 
I have used all sorts of soaps. They all seem to work. My favorite is Optimum if anything for the blueberry scent but DG901, Mothers, Pinnacle/Wolfgang, 1z Perls, and PB SSS all work.
