Favorite car soap?

ONR by a long shot, the more I use it, the more annoying using a traditional wash becomes. For the times I have to use a regular wash I really like Optimum car wash. For off the shelf, the Duragloss stuff is very nice.

ONR will not affect polish/wax/whatever, you can even paint over it.

for what reasons would you have to use regular wash then?

and how safe/good is it to use as clay lube?

For very dirty cars, cars that need the dirt flooded off. It works great for a clay lube. I actually ONR (2-pass), clay, then dry.

Heh heh, yeah...that's what a lot of people think. But I go a loooong time between polishings, virtually never have to do correction any more.

lol in that case I'll eagerly be waiting for some kind of Accum's wash guide :)

hehe I hope you don't mind my asking--but Scott I was wondering if there was a particular reason for your love of ONR?

So it shouldn't interfere with say compound/polish/cleaning or sealant/lsp application whatesoever? (I figure the answer will be yes but just wanna cover my bases cause i also wanna try the Collinite stuff)

Why do I love ONR? It is much faster than traditional washing, cleans at least as well, the polymers add noticeable gloss and slickness, used a lot less water, no problems with waterspots even when washing a black car in the full sun when it is 102 like I did today-since you wash a section and dry it immediately, no water spots! You can also clay as you wash, or mix up ONR at about 1.5 oz per 32 oz of water for a dedicated clay lube and glass cleaner. Did I mention how much faster it is?

I have had zero problems either polishing or waxing/sealing right after using ONR.

:bow the other great legend =]

Hmmm maybe I'll give it a shot then--started thinking that maybe using generic soap might be aiding in the marring efforts more than i thought (I would usually get a sponge and a bucket of water with generic car soap) hmmmmm

So clay lube/car soap

any other uses? (I want to say someone mentioned using it for engine bay--but i'm sure it was just a figment of my imagination)

My favorite care soap to date is Optimum Car Wash. It has great sudsing (is that a word?) and great lubricity. Smells great too.

lol yea i was ganna ask about cleanage... I mean i normally get a bucket of hot water and dish soap and handwash a few times

and then let it soak in water for a bit--but somehow i don't think it'll fly when i get my hydrotech pads in....

just ordered a gallon of ONR--i'll let yas know what happens--ACCUM in advance sir-- I greatly thank you I'll prolly do a write up on my friends car (though I don't have any compound/polish cause i ran out of money--bought over 200 bux worth of stuff =[ ) I apologize if I let you down or fall short of your expectations xD

Megs hyperwash, however, along the lines of Barry's Baby soap...I use dog shampoo (particulary Happy Jack Itch No more), to clean my pads...

I, OTOH, have been known to wash the dogs with Griot's Car Wash :D

I just clean my pads in the utility sink with Dawn, eithe regular or Power Dissolver. Or MF detergent. Or maybe APC. But almost always just the Dawn. Been doing that since forever with no issues.

Eh, you oughta do *some* kind of polishing/paint cleaning...a bottle of [whatever] would only be a few bucks ;)

Sooo the 1Z for by-hand? (ordered hydro tech pads but maybe bad idea if i'm using hand?) or anything better?

Yeah. That stuff works OK. Doesn't give the correction or the finish of some "better" products, but it can still have its place. It's kinda along the lines of Meguiar's #80 except the 1Z PP leaves a bit of wax behind.

Top it with some kind of wax, not a sealant.

Milder, but even easier to use, is the 1Z MetallicPolishWithWax. But that stuff is soooo gentle that it won't really correct much of anything. The 1Z PP won't perform any miracles either, but it does have a bit of corrective ability.

hmmm i really dunno what I'm doing in terms of hand polish--but I figure no matter what I'll get a fresh onr bucket wash after =]

I wouldn't wash it after using the 1Z PP. Think of that stuff as a really potent cleaner-wax.
