Fastest and Safest way to dewax a brand new car

Hey guys, I need some tips on how to de-wax a brand new car. I might be asked to detail some brand new cars which the thick layer of wax is still on the cars. Never done it before and like to get some help here as to how to do it fast and at the same time safe. All those are brand new cars and will not want to make any mistake on them. Please kindly indicate the procedure and products involved and the time needed for 1 average saloon car. Thanks.

I use alcohol wipes to strip wax from cars, basically just pour the alcohol onto a microfiber, wipe it down, and dry with another microfiber. Would probably take me roughly 5 to 10 minutes to do my 4 door hatchback (focus), but that's just me.

There might be a better way to do it, and if so, I'm sure it will be posted - but most people use alcohol wipe downs to remove wax. If you're going to do a bunch of cars, you might just fill up a garden sprayer to do a car with (I have a 1 gallon one I got at wally world for like 5 bucks).

I understand Klasse AIO will also strip wax if you have some of it and plan to seal the paint - might be worth a shot to.

Just what I've gathered from reading the forums. G'luck :)

Hi HomicidalSloth, thanks for the suggestions. In fact I'm wondering is APC with proper dilution can do the job better. Suggestions from fellow members who have done it before will be great.

I'd imagine it would, though someone else would have to chime in to tell you for sure. I do recall my bottle of 303 Aerospace Cleaner listing a dilution ratio for stripping wax (I believe it was 1:10), so I assume it can do the job.

If I were gonna do it regularly, I'd buy the decontamination systems from either AutoInt or FinishKare. Or at least the step "A" of the AutoInt one.

Hi-Temp prep wash from TOL will work also.
As will Hi-Temp's Tar & Wax Remover, also available from TOL.

Tort

(Am I alone in thinking Prep-Wash smells vaguely of cat pee? Bleah.)

A paint cleaner? A paint polish? 1:128 is ratio for APC I think for washing. Diluted Alcohol or Prep Wash

Hey guys thanks for all the input. I'm not too sure is this going to be a regular project, so don't intend to make big order over the net and the shipping cost can 'kill' me too. Locally we have a Meguiar's distributor who has most of the professional range of products, to keep my cost low at the same time to do a proper and effective de-wax job, what products would you guys recommand from Meguiar's range of products ?

I used Valugard New Car Prep This is for getting absolutely "bare naked paint" that is literally squeaky clean. A thorough wipe down with the water:IPA mix allowing it sufficient dwell time ought to do similarly as well. Get you fingers completely clean and see if you can hear them squeak against the paint. It's a go then.

Any "polish" will remove what ever is on the paint.

#80 for example.

I understand that polish remove wax but is this the most effective way to remove those thick wax on the new cars. If there are 10-20 cars to handle a day, than to polish every single of them to remove the wax might not be the best option. I'm wondering is there any slovent or solution which I can use to wash away the thick wax without hurting the paint than follow by a polish with a 1 step product like #82.

Thanks bill for the link, this is exactly what I refering to. But your method is an Autopian Style and we are looking at a more commercial style here :grinno: It will be almost impossible to handle 10-20 cars a day with your Autopian style :lol .

If you look towards the top of the thread I mentioned Meguiar's APC diluted 64:1 to de-wax.:)

PB's PwC should be your best friend. An all in one product, that is extremely easy to apply/remove. Very slick and looks fantastic. Great protection too.
