Fast and the Furious

You gotta be kidding me?

The second one sucked, and i'm sure this one will too.

Its going to create another hype with the teens and their honda's. I can see it now, A whole new wave of stickers, Glow in the dark things, fart cans that make your car sound turbo'd, Monster tach's that are as big as my head. I really hate that whole "scene".

They keep trying to ride on the success of the first one and they can't. A bunch of shiny jap cars and some rap artist is not going to intrest me enough to go and see it. :boot

Hmm, I don't have a problem with "jap" cars or people for that matter. Not too impressed with the tools who drive these over modded cars that look like some kind of insect from Mars though.

They were just down here in LA shooting for this movie. Its supposed to be more about the JDM (if anyone knows about that here.) Have a few friends who lent cars (paid of course) to be used in the movie. If i would have know, i would have done the same. Free advertisement for me :)

Oh No here we go again a bunch of Ricers going to try to race me again....
Ricers never learn not to mess with certin cars .

As rediculous as the movie may be, Japanese vehicles can be very fast. A Honda Civic was the first front wheel drive vehicle to get into the 7 sec range for the 1/4 mile. The Nismo tuned Skyline was and still might be the fastest factory 1/4 mile vehicle also. While a lot of the younger people just throw parts on their vehicles just to modify without thinking about performance and actual style, there are a few of them that put together pretty amazing vehicles. I still think the straight 6 that was used in the Supra is the toughest factory block ever made. Some people have put over 1,100 hp on that engine without reliability issues. Personally, I'm more into the Euro scene, but I will give respect when it's due.

And yes, I have a feeling this movie will do nothing positive for the tuning industry. I just wanted to play devils advocate for a bit.

I liked the first one, thought it had a terible story line but was entertaining. I think the seconed didnt work for them and the third wont either, they sould have stuck with 1!

I enjoyed the first one, I guess it had to due with me being tied up in cars and in high school at the time. The second one I think had a better story, but the racing scenes were over done digitally. This one looks decent, I'll probably have my friend "get" it for me whenever it comes out.

I do hope the ricers (imports and domestics apply) don't go to crazy when this comes out. I can just see it now, HS kids pulling up their e-brake mid turn in their FWD cars. :wall

Being in NJ you see the same kind of Kids we have in rockland Co. NY
I am forever being pestered by the kids to race. Well Im a 50 yr old driving a mustang with blacked out windows so the kids really can't see me. It is very comical when a honda civic with a blender for a engine pulls up next to me and drops a gear trying to get me to race him. It can get very anoying to say the least but......Sometimes I teach em a lesson and blow the doors off them then they come limping up to the next red light and won't even look at me LOL...So to get to the point being in the new york metro area a movie like this will only encorage the kids to kill themselfs in these Ricer tin cans ......:boot

I completely agree with you Audi, my roomate is very much into the scene of illegal and legal street racing, and those movies brought out more idiots who had no idea what they were doing. The scene was not framed accurately at all.

Harry444, beleive it or not people in the scene hate the ricers more than the V-8 guys do. All these people do when they put lights on their cars, or stupid exhaust or whatever is make everyones opinion of an import racer go down.

Finally, I beleive that the import racing subculture is a new form of Hot-Rod building, I mean if you think about it hot rods of the past were only worked on because they were cheap and that was all the mechanics and people who wrenched on them could afford. Now Honda Civics are cheap and easy to work on as well, while domestic iron has exploded in price. In our garage my roomate put together an all-motor NA, (no turbo, no NoS) Honda Civic Hatchback that ran 11s. No matter who you are or what you run, you have to respect an all-motor-front-wheel-drive car that will pull 11 second passes.

We use to have tons of HS idiots like that driving in their "pimped" out cars. Maybe I don't realize it as much, it doesn't occur as much or I just don't care; but I don't see to much of it that much. I'm sure this movie will help jump start things again though.

I also kinda have to agree with LastDetail, while I'd say a majority of the "import tuners" who "hook up" these imports do it wrong, there is a large majority who can do it right. Its pretty respectable to run some of these numbers that they do with 4 cylinder, FWD cars. I also have seen my share of "domestic rice" or whatever the term would be. I've seen plenty of V6 stangs with oversized body kits, huge wings and altezza lights in my day. Not trying to gang up on the domestics, but it does happen.

There are Imports (Tuners) and there are ricers in my own opinion. Mostly all the cars in fast and furious are Imports.. Ricers are nothing more then a Honda or cheap beatup import car with a obnoixous body kit, big garbage can muffler, and stickers everywhere like their a vinyl display. Now by to be classified as a Import or tuner your car must be done with speed in mind and not some hacked motor to get 20HP outta it, something built nice. If you notice a Import such as RX-7's, Supras, NSX, WRX's, Lancers, and even Older Eclipses when they were real cars if you listen to these cars built up they actually sound nice.. Cars are cars.. just like people are people.. Not everything its going to be liked.. but what pisses me off more then this movie is how people go see it, then come out saying..IT WAS FILLED OF IMPORTS.. its like will DUH... what the hell.. did you see a different preview or something?

All this is coming from a guy who owns a 97 Ford Cobra.. I do not currently own an import or ever have.
