Rich,
I'd forgotten about your thread - big apologies mate! Your 205 looked sweet and reminded me how old skool hot hatches should be - light, lairy and in yer face. Whole thing was a tad fixed apart from the 300ZX/350Z pairing IMO. I'd ignore book figures and put my money on a well driven 205 leaving the 206 trailing - figures can only say so much and most everyone whose opinion I respect has said the 206 180 will never be a 205 1.9 which is a shame as the basic ingredients were (and still are) there - apart from iffy pedals Alex!
Maybe I'm getting old or something but it made me realise that with 1 or 2 exceptions most of the cars available brand new today are poo - think about it, 205 v 206, old MR2 v hairdressers wheels etc etc.
A lot of mates if mine had 1.9's back in the early 90's - first one one was reg'd Aug 1 1990 and was the first in our area (Woking) - Daddy had a lot of dosh!
This guy had this one which he totalled then a metallic grey one then the Gutmann Miami blue car with the green trim (sounds awful but looked sweet) and finally a Miami blue Dimma car - mechanics/wheels etc only not the fake T16 bodykit - think he stuffed this one too - more cash than brains me thinks!
I've added a 1.9 to my shortlist of a toy for this year but am struggling to find a good un. Not looking to buy til probably Spring but if anyone knows of a good standard car for sale I'd be interested in 2 or 3 months' time.
And JC - big respect due whether you love or hate him. TG's the best show for cars we have IMO - started going a bit Max Power but seems to be back on track now.
And that's not dissin Max Power readers (I've still got the first few issues knocking around somewhere) but things have really, really changed in the last 15 years....
