fairly heavy oxidation......

Hi All,

I've been using Klasse AIO for awhile now, it does do a great job on many things...

However, I have a car with fairly heavy oxidation, ss paint. Now, instead of using AIO on the car many, many times - is there some other product that can get the job done quicker or in conjunction with AIO? How about Prime Strong? Is it strong enough? Where do I find it?

I would like to cut the time down and get the oxidation taken care of faster...... Would XMT #2 Help?

Suggestions? :idea

Thanks

Heller Glanz marine Cleaner Wax. You will not be disappointed.I use it on both of my vans and my motorhome. The results have been excellent.

Goose, are you using a Orbital, rotary, or by hand. You'll probably need some compound to remove the oxidation.

I'm using a PC but also do by what I can by hand. I just bought some Pinnacle XMT #2 from Autogeek. Read some reviews and saw some pictures of what that stuff did to oxidation, so hopefully that stuff will work - we shall see.

Any other suggestions are welcomed. Thanks for the idea Forbesk, tho I've never heard that product.. :p

:wavey

What other products do you have? With a pc, its always best to start with the least aggressive approach, but in case that doesn't work, you'll either need to move to a stronger polish, then to a compound, or move up in pad color.

What exactly are you working with? A pc, XMT2, and what else? Pads, what colors? Any other XMT products, XMT3, XMT4? If you're only working with XMT2, you should be prepared to start with an orange pad, and possibly even a yellow heavy cutting pad.

Sorry for the lack of info. I don't have XMT2 yet so I can not give any feedback on how, or if it will work. I have no other XMT products.

Currently I'm using AIO by pc and by hand. I'm using Sonus pads and I am already using the Yellow pad with AIO. I'm seeing a decent amount of correction but not quite to the level I want. It is 17 yr. old single stage paint tho. :help:

I'm looking for a product that will cut down on the time I'd have to spent going over the car multiple times with AIO. (AIO is kinda expensive to do it the way I'm doing it) .. Thus I just purchased XMT2 from Autogeek and will give that a go. Just need more serious correction quicker and less expensively.

Thanks all for the input. Futher Suggestions are always welcomed. :grinno:

How about some Optimum Compound or OHC? Or just some #83 if you've got that around. Just keep wiping the gunk off of your pad with an old terry towel.

You could just use any light cut polish. This should clean up the oxidation no problem, reduce any light marring, improve gloss, and prepare your paint for LSP.

So Pinnacle XMT2 should work well. XMT Fine Swirl Remover #2 by Pinnacle For your dual action or rotary polisher.

" these proprietary abrasives enable them to effectively erase surface defects without marring the paint. "

I do have some Poorboy's SS 2.5 but nothing less abrasive to take out any marring it may leave

(SSR 1 etc). XMT2 seems, from the link above, to be more gentle on the paint but also take out oxidation/scratches. We will see.

Thanks all for the information. :grinno:

If anyone has any practical experience with Pinnacle XMT2 please chime in and let me know how you like it. :D
