Face Lift vs. '92 Camry

Nice job, but u need to step up on the outside. you didnt put an agressive enough products, also always hit ur wheels wells.

PS. Read my post. He didn't even pay for it. I was just being a nice guy.

You are a brave man to tackle a car that nasty. That is about as rough an interior as I have seen. I bet it smelled real nice too, eh? I'd be hauling to the bathroom to heave

after opening the door and seeing that mess.

Look on the bright side, once you get established you can turn down cars like that. Not in the beginning though....I cleaned up two pints of blood out the passenger side footwell in a Tempo....10 days after the guy had been cut and left the car out in the Dallas summer sun. I thought I was going to pass out when the smell first hit me.

Last year, I parked next to a car at The Bell with the entire passenger side floorboard filled...

A couple years ago, I parked next to a car...there was a woman sitting in the driver's seat....the entire back seat, up to the top of the front seat, was filled with what looked like garbage...IIRC correctly, the front passenger seat was the same. I couldn't stare too much because she was sitting there in the car, but I thought that was the worst I would ever see. Then a month or two ago I park next to this car at Poop Boy's...it was a small SUV...the ENTIRE car was filled with plastic shopping bags, soda bottles....fast food bags...newspapers...in other words...GARBAGE...right to the roof...the passenger seat, back seat, and the cargo area...TO THE ROOF. <shaking head>

Mike-my son and I saw an Escort like that driving on I30 towards Dallas. The entire back and passenger side of the car was completely filled with trash to the roof in back and neck high in front. By the time my son got my camera out, the guy had exited the freeway.

It doenst matter or not if he payed for it. YOu did a great job no doubt, but i always felt and try to stick to this possibly. DO the best possible job you can no matter how long it takes, or what it costs or doesnt. I can understand though u dont want to kill yourself off a free job, thing like that i cant do. I would go crazy for about 10 hours on that car making it like new again

I think what Steve was saying is that the customer just wanted the interior cleaned, and Steve just wanted to do a little more than was requested.

I'm sure he would have done a more thorough job had it been requested. There's no real sense in putting in that much effort for free. As a business owner, you know, time = money.

Exactly my point. As me being part time, I don't gain much income. Products, and time spent at my real job are thing I'd rather have, because after all like Dean said, time=money. And I'd much rather look out for myself than give some guy a free exterior detail.

This reminds me of the time when my Camry's interior was in need of some "surgery".

About a couple months after my little one was born, I was sent off to Chicago for about 2 weeks in Mid July. The night I arrived at the hotel I called my wife who reported an accident involving baby puke in the car. She said she tried to clean it all up but some were still there. I was to clean the carpet immediately when I got back... :hmph:

The night before I left, my wife said that the smell was horrible and letting the remains bake in the sun for nearly two weeks weren't helping.

I got home that night and the next morning, I preparing myself for a radiation exposure. I put on a paper mask and a long pair of work clothes. I opened the door and gagged really badly at the smell. I had this hideous stain too.

I couldn't get rid of stain and smell. The pros manage to get the stain out but discolored the carpet and the horrid smell was still there. I ended ordering new carpet from the dealer. :doh

Ouch, that would suck. I know the buick is going to go in for surgury soon, but not for interior work :D

You could almost go swimming in that trunk! (not that anyone would want to). I'll I can say is that I think I need to start taking a large black trash bag or two with me on jobs just incase something like that happens. lol

Very nice job. The exterior looks worlds better too.

Wow, definately very brave to tackle that task, especially for free lol. I don't think I would have attempted the job... unless it was for great before and after pictures for my website, that is.

I know that this is a rather old forum but I must admit that I am the guy (not the owner) who brought Steve this 93 Camry. It is my buddy's car and he does not take really good care of it. In fact, he spilled coffee in it last week and just left it there to dry (YUK). Just to Clarify 1 thing, the only time that any of my cars have looked like this one is either during exams or during a 8-10 day working stretch. I must also conceed that it was my vomit in the front pass side...A late staff Holiday Party that went a little crazy! Now what was supposed to be a free evening has turned into a $150cndn+ night.

Anyhow, Steve did an absolute amazing job on the interior...it seriously looked and smelled like new! I understand that the exterior would have been better if I would have paid him for it BUT in my buddy's eyes, his car has never looked this good.

Now, my next adventure w/ Steve will be an interior detail of my 96 civic hb (autox/show car) which came back from my body guy looking pretty scary (interior). I am gonna vaccuum it out this weekend but leave the rest for steve. He doesn't even need to touch the exterior b/c that just had new paint and had been wet sanded like 3x.

Thanx again Steve...Sorry for my buddy's utter disrespect of his car's feelingS!!!! :bow

Hey man,

No problem. Let me know when you get the car out of storage.
