Buffed out an old Ford Truck today,

Ford F150

Drove down to Escondido to do the buff out at Super Rides Custom Hot Rod shop. While this is a great shop for fabricating and building hot rods, it was a horrible shop for machine buffing a black finish. There was not enough light to see the defects in the finish, and there was not a lot of room around the truck to maneuver The paint by the way was a single stage black finish.

The finish was horrible, it had tons of swirls and scratches, it was also a little complicated to buff out because of the custom paint work between the cab and the bed. The bed itself needed to be buffed-out as well as the clear coat over the wood was hazy and dull.

Here's some after shots with two coats of NXT Tech Wax,

David Bynon stopped by to check it and ended up helping with some of the polishing... Thanks David!

Did you use NXT alone or do any other surface prep since you said the surface was so swirled and scratched?

If not, NXT sure does a helluva a job hiding them!

The pictures don't come close to doing this truck justice. The shop that created it does amazing metal work.

Mike did an incredible job restoring about 6 years of finish degradation. It was full of minor surface scratches and had moderate swirl marks in the single stage paint. Mike went to work on it with the rotary and the DA. The owner had a huge smile on his face.
