EXTREME Interior Makeover

Hey everyone,

I was asked by my mother-in-law if I could get a stain out of the carpet in her Pontiac Montana minivan, so I went over to take a look. What I found was a large stain from what appeared to be soda. this stain was about 10 inched wide by about 2 feet long.

My process:

Spray all affected areas generously with Meg's APC+ at a 4:1 ratio

Scrub these areas with a Meg's interior brush

Extract with my brand new Durrmaid extractor.

P.S. this was only the second time with the Durrmaid as I did my wife's van 2 hours before thisand I am still learning.

Here are some befores and afters.

Impressed is not the word for her reaction to seeing the carpet clean like my pictures. She said she did not think I was Going to get it all out and she really like that I got it this clean for her.

Like I said this extractor is new to me so I am sure I will come up with other things to use. I was thinking of using oxyclean but we did not have any in the house and I was running out of daylight so I did not run to the store to get any.

WOW! I need to start to learn how to do interiors like that. Luckily I haven't been plagued with a problem like this.

Nice work ... huge improvement on those carpets.

Also a great way to make points with the mother in law :chuckle:

FYI, those plastic covers around the holes for the seat mounts pop right out if you remove the clips first. Then you can easily clean the 'runway' between the holes. I have a regular client who brings in the exact same van every month and the first time I didn't notice and had trouble getting this narrow area (it looks like you had the same issue).

Nice! I would suggest to try 1 scoop oxy clean to 1 gallon super hot water, let dwell, agitate, and extract. Great Job!

Be careful with using Oxy Clean. I've seen people use it in dyed carpets and it took the dye right out. Leaving it discolored in that area.

hey smprince1,

How would I go about removing the plastic pieces on the floor? Tell what to look for.

Blackelantragt,

I really like it so far. good lift really heats the water up and is alot quieter than the hosehold carpet extractor than I was using.

Very good point. Years ago a customer bought a used truck from a dealer. They needed the interior cleaned. It looked pretty good just needed some some light cleaning. Imagine my surprise when a stain probably 20" round was uncovered :wall Had to redye it

Look about midway from front to back, on either side of the slot left and right. There are small locking clips, one on each side left and right, seperate pieces from the big main cover. These clips pull straight up ... then you can remove the large cover.

Is it just me or has anyone else never heard of a Pontiac Montana??

I'll bet you've seen a few around even if you didn't know the name. Typical soccer mom ride.

Great job on the carpet. :woot2:

Nice work.It was almost as bad as my Dad's '01 Odyssey. I use the Daimer 5900 along with Folex cleaner (available at H-D, Lowe's, W-M, Target). The Folex really melts the spills and loosens up the dirt adn leaves no odor or perfumy stench. Like your Durrmaid, the extractor pulls the crud out witht the water. I wouldn't be without my extractor.

I have a pig-sty Odyssey to tackle Thurs. Wish me luck.

I would just like to say thanks for all the kind words. With the machine being new to me I am still learning so my interior details can only get better.
