Extreme brake dust from hell

Definitely try Poorboy's Spray And Rinse or a Paint Cleaner! Steam might work also. That's nasty I hafta admit.

There was a thread a while back where someone used P21S Gel and left it on for a while -- I remember it being two hours but it could have been longer. If the Castrol doesn't work for you, add me to the fans of P21S Gel, so I'd try that.

WOW! I totally FORGOT about this thread I made. And just sawI never gave an update...

Well after getting some citrus cleaner from work, (a non-labled bottle), Eagle One wheel cleaner and many cheapo stiff tooth brushes I was so happy. I did try clay and while it did clean it was too costly.

I cleaned with one, rinsed and dried. then kept switching back and forth between them and the results were perfect.

I used the wheels shortly after this post was orignal made and the Orginal owner was totally blown away and offered to buy them. HAHAH

Next time try using muriatic acid (get from Lowe's) and dilute it 6:1....I used that on some rims that looked worse than yours a few years ago and the dust/grime almost melted off.

Would enjoy knowing if anyone else has used it and what was results. thanks

nice job. FYI, those ecsta MXs will out-perform the proxes any day :D

I'd agree with you if you were comparing apples to apples, however, notice those are RA1's which are R compound track tires. They will smoke a standard compound MX ;)

This stuff ok to use on painted wheels? I have an STi and have this little bit of B dust I cant get off in the corners of the spokes.

Ive tried simple green, greases lightening, every Autozone cleaner i could try and I finally got some Meguiers Wheel detailer which took off alot of it, but still required too muck elbow grease for my taste. Not that Im afraid of elbow grease, just Id like to see results in more than say an hour worth of work on 1 wheel.

The only area the Ecsta MXs might outperform the RA1s at the track might be in wearing out more quickly.

:o

RA1s are a great track tire, particularly for Driving Education events but many club racers use them too. I don't know anyone using MXs for driving events let alone racing.

"Ok to use on painted wheels?" On some wheels I haven't had a problem. On others I have heard there is problems. I would try it on back side of wheel first...or maybe dilute to 10:1 and go up from there.

I'm not going to use muriatic acid when there is a chance of damage on my wheels.

I'd rather stick to more labor then the option of damage.

As for the RA1, they are my track tires. MXs were my street tire. And there is no way to even compare them, two different uses.

Basso, I've got the same problem...some dedicated track wheels with baked on pad material that I am trying to make street-presentable. I don't think some of the people on here realize how bad this can be -- it is way past a clay bar or any standard wheel cleaner.

Can you describe in a bit more detail what you used and what worked best? I would greatly appreciate your time and help!

Thanks!
