Extras What do you Charge?

Fishpimp

Anything but Boring....
I'm putting my price list together for details. In doing my research I have come to the conclusion that I do way too much for what I charge and the 10 plus hours it takes me to complete a full detail. I have been treating my customers cars as if they were my own.

Now that I'm a little older and wiser, I feel I should do a little less and come up with a way to charge for extras. For instance and extra coat of sealant or an extra coat of wax...

Sealant and wax on wheels

Thanks in advance... Got to go to bed now girlfriend just arrived!

Well my advice is that if there getting a full detail dont have an upcharge on clay because clay should absolutly be worked into the price. You can make clay an upcharge on simple wash and waxes though. I make an upcharge on a sealant instead of a wax for my packages. One thing you will need to think about is that most waxes require you to wait 24 hours before applying an additional application. So you woudlnt want to charge for something that isnt going to change anything on there vehicle. Other upcharges can include a headlight restoration or trim dying. You could add a wheel polishing and sealing but thats something I work into my prices already. Just experiment and see what everone is willing to pay.

charge by the hour... 35 bucks an hour, 15 dollars every hour after that. just dont over do it and start cleaning and dressing their air vents either.

I never charge for calay because #1 it is a reflection on me and #2 it saves me a lot of time when waxing by hand. Things just go on smoother and come off easier....

Once you clay you don't go back!!!

Hey greg,

I learned this stuff from you guys. For those of you who think claying should be extra think about the added product and time it takes to wax an un-clayed surface.

I split my bar into 5 parts = 5 cars...

not to mention how sandy it feels running your applicator over a non clayed car. ick. FWIW i split my clay up too. I can get about 2-3 car done with each little chunk of clay.
