Extractors...another thread

Diesel Sniffer
Well I just picked up my Honda EU2000i generator, nice little piece of equipment. I'm looking for a good extractor for mobile use. I'd like something with at least 100" but prefer 120" of water lift. I don't like what I've heard about the DURRMAID, and the aztec looks similar just relabeled. The mightee looks ok but I wonder about power. I'd also like something with heat, but then there come's the issue of size, has to be a decent size to fit in my car and be manageable to lift say around or under 60lbs.

I currently work with a ridgid 5hp 4 gal w/d vac, upholestry hand brush, and a PC 7424 with upholestry brush. I can get most stains out with what I have but would like to invest in something a lil more capable and faster.

I saw someone on here uses a century 400 unit, but I don't know the model.

Any other choice's for the mobile detailer?

Thanks

I think i posted in your previous thread.

I have the sanitire (durrmaid) and it works great, even w/o heat. I use Malco "extract-X" soluction, everyone LOVES the smell. $315 + shipping

You really dont realize how badly you're beating yourself doing carpets by hand with the brush untill you get an extractor... Does a much more quality job with a fraction of the effort.

I use the Century 400 Spot Plus. It does not have hot water, but it is small and pretty darn powerful for its size. The other Century 400 model is the Sensei. It is aprox 60 pounds and has hot water. I have looked into this unit, however, it is almost three times as much as the Spot Plus, and uses two plugs. The Spot Plus works just fine for me right now. Note: With the exception of extremely clean carpets, I always agitate with a hand brush or my Cyclo before I extract. This makes for a much more thorough job.

Thanks guys, where did you get your extractors, pm me the link if it's a problem to post publicly.

Also what are the amp ratings on your units?

Audi, nice choice on the generator. I have been using a Mytee Lite 8070 Heated for the last 8 or 9 months and it's been doing it's job flawlessly. It has a dual stage motor, and is probably around 90 psi. It weighs about 80lbs and does not take up too much room in my van. Personally, I have heard some mixed reviews of the Duramaid units. . . some love 'em. . some hate 'em. Century owners dig those.

I think the unit I own is roughly the base psi and motor you would want to go with. It's possible that the moisture here in the SB air has some play but my carpets take a while to dry; whether pulling my vac nozzle once or twice slowly. Penetration could be better but for either of those variables to be resolved I was looking at a machine weighing almost 45lbs more. I work alone and didn't feel like lugging it out of my van once or twice a day.

What really makes a large difference in the effectiveness of your localized stain removal is your understanding of how to treat individual stains. The proper solutions for the spots in question and allowing the area to dwell long enough. Your local Cleaning Supply usually holds classes for Carpet Cleaners that can be very useful for understanding the nature of the many stains that you will come across.

BTW, mine came from Rightlook. . .

Hope this helps.

I use the Century 400 Sensei (I have two!). It is an invaluble workhorse... but it doe require 40 amps, actually two 20 amp circuits. I would think that makes it impractical for mobile use.

I buy from the local local distributor who supplies commercial carpet cleaners. They have all the various stain removal products and can service your machine. An important consideration for me.

Checkout this site for supplies... use their "Find A Dealer" button to get one near you.

Look around for some place locally to buy your extractor , even if you don't buy it from them make sure your generator will run the machine you want . By going local at least you may be able to demo a machine using your generator to power it .

I run my Spot Plus off of a 15 amp plug all the time. Since it does not have a heater it does not draw a lot of power. Top of the Line carries the spot plus. Check out their website.
