Extractor burn

Anyone here that owns a Mytee HP60 or HP100 I need your help. When I use my hot water extractor, the fitting that connects the tool to the hose gets freaking hot. Yesterday I burnt my forearm and put a nasty mark about the size of a match box car. Hurts to beat heck. Anyone else have this problem. I figure the water temp to be 210 for sure. I need to keep this from happening again.

v,
i have a hp60. Sweet machine! I've had the same experience. If you don't use the quick connect and always use the same hand tool, just cover the metal with cloth tape(the kind used for medicinal purposes). If you do change tools a bunch and tape will get in your way, you can use rubber tool coating. This stuff, bought at any home store, is a liquid that you dip your tools in. Make sure you tape off any sections that shouldn't be coated with rubber before you dip the nozzle. When its dry, carefully use a razor blade to cut the new rubber where the tape is so when you remove the tape all the rubber doesn't come off. Oh and don't forget about the nozzle that comes out of the machine, it get hot too!

We use the 100 at work and everyone gets burned by it, mainly on the lower side of the handle where the water is piped in, although on tough jobs after a while the entire nozzle will start to get VERY warm. You will learn how to hold the nozzle best so as to minimize burning, but wrapping it in a rag is one way. Well, at least we know it's really hot water, eh?!

I just purchased the hp60. I was wondering if wearing leather gloves or something of that nature would help prevent the burns?

mine gets hot too but i know its working. worth every penney i paid ...bye the way its almost paid off ..average 150.00 per car = 10 cars then its all mine..im almost there ..

hp100

I use the HP100 and yes it does get hot!!!!!
I know the burn feeling.
What I did was I bought a pair of those gloves mechanics use to work on cars. I just wear those instead of getting burnt.
Funny story about that.
The owner of the shop I work for didnt want to spend the cash on the extractor. The service manager helped me get it.
Well when it did finally arrive the owner came back and wanted to see it.
To my surprise he rolled up his sleeves and tucked his tie in.
He then proceeded to tell me he wanted to try it.
Well after a few passes with it he dropped that thing like a hot potatao.
I waited to laugh till he left :lmfao and to this day he always tells me that it was a worth while investment after seeing the results.

(and thanks again Clean Dean for the advice on how to get them to spring the dough for it):)
