Extra winter protection

I’m wondering is someone over here knows if there are sealants that can be put over nuba? So far I read that OS can be applied over nuba and was wondering if there are any other ones that can do that. I would like to protect my car before winter but I really like how PS looks on my car and I want to add some more protection with out stripping it. Note that I don’t have a garage so I’m not always able to clean my car during the “cold months:wall. Thanks for help.

So far the only LSP that I tried myself that did withstand winter months is Collinite 476. Plans unchanged for this year.

It's not a synthetic sealant, but does the job quite well.

If you have OS, it might be better to sandwich the OS around PS. Meaning the initial layer is OS (let cure), then a layer of PS, then the final layer of OS. Then you get the best of both worlds. Good durability and the look of PS.

I am trying out 1000p this year by Finish Kare. So far I really like it. I'll apply another layer (booster) in the coming weeks, then boost it again just before the cold set in.

I used Ultima last year with good results, but It require 3 layers just before the cold set in. The thing with Ultima is the 12 hrs before another layer, no good for clients.

Cheers,

GREG

DG 501, topped with FK Hi Temp 1000p x2, the following wash may add a carnauba because I like them. Wash with ONR and use DG AW and or OCW for maintence

Thanks guys for your suggestions. What about CS? I will be ordering Z7 soon, so maybe this will work. I'm also looking at the EX (the one whit nuba in it). How close are CS and OS? Which one will work beeter whit the "nuba look"?

I have all 3 of the wowa sealants now, and I think they all do something slightly different IMHO:

OS - beads and sheets well - nice glassy look

UPGP - really nice look after 3 layers - wet and glossy, but just doesnt bead and sheet like the others. Releases dirt very well though and cleans up best from a touchless wash IMHO.

CS - added a nice gloss to my Z-2 layers, beads & sheets pretty well

One thing to bear in mind is I was told that when you apply them over a nuba, the sealant doesnt actually sit OVER the wax but rather it migrates through the nuba to the paint surface... that would make sense based on the level of solvents that appears to be in them.

I'm using CS over some layers of Zaino this winter - I like how I can foam and rinse for a pretty good touchless wash and then blow dry it pretty much dry.

I'm going to compare it to FK1000P on my other DD.

I like doing Poli-seal / opti-seal / optimum car wax. Beads up really nice and has lasted me for 4-5 months before I re-applied. Could of gone longer but didn't want to since I was doing the rest of the car. This was on a test area, I did my hood in 2 sections to watch the differences between Zaino and Optimum protection/looks.

Thanks for that sugesstion skuz. Any more of you guys are using Collinite 476 as winter protection? This sounds good for me because there shoudn't be any bonding problems whit PS.

Alex - We come up to your area in the winter for XC skiing. I put on several layers of Collinite 476 last fall, it did very well through the winter, Adirondacks salt, sand, grime, was still beading nicely in April. It may not have the glamorous shine of some other waxes/protectants, but it stands up to our winters.

What restaurants do you like in the S. Glens Falls/Glens Falls/Lake George Village area?

It works out great for me in the winter, better than my sealants with the exception of heavily layered KSG.

Multiple layers of Klasse Sealant Glaze worked great for me last year. Will do the same this year. I live in the Chicago area and our winter last year was brutal.

I don't have experience with UGPG or with KSG. I can say with confidence from experience that properly applied, 476 will get you through the winter in good form, even if you can wash only occasionally.

last year was a few layers of M21.... was not happy with it at all.

This year my monte will see a few layers of 476.

I second that. OCW works wonders for me, and basically since I wash my car pretty often, I layer it almost every 2 weeks (since it takes no more than 10 minutes to do the whole car). It beads really nicely and I've been able to pressure wash away most dirt before I touch the car with the mitt.

Did you dilute it and put in a spray bottle to use the WOWO method? It's a pain to get that thing off sometimes.
