Exterior upkeep question

Hello,

Real noob question here: after a car is completely detailed how do you deal with daily road dust and light rain? Do you wash the car again, ONR or use a product like spray and wipe? I have read that dusting brushes can cause scratches. I don't believe QDs are used for this purpose or am I wrong?

thanks

Light dust and stuff like that I just use a little Quik Detailer... since I wash my car and 1 30 minute drive later it already has a light coating of dust on it. I either use a QD, or just dust it off with a microfiber towel.

Don't forget the California Car Duster (or similar clones like the OXO). Even if you've got heavy dust or pollen, assuming it's not STUCK on, this thing takes it off. They last forever, too - just shake it out really well. Priceless this time of year (pollen season).

As a bonus, it's less physical contact than a towel or a QD wipedown so less chance of inducing swirls. Just don't use it on a truly dirty surface with stuck-on contaminants.

Yes, you can find them at a lot of retail outlets - I've seen them at Pep Boys (original brand) and Target (OXO or RubberMaid brand)

Is there much of a difference between the original and OXO and rubbermaid brands?

I find the OXO to be good - I like the grip better than the Cali. The Rubbermaid I bought for a client smelled very strong, so I'd be inclined to go with the OXO (I believe that's what Autopia sells).
