Exhaust Tips

Brasso is a very fine polish. It can be used to clean stainless steel polished tips but the tips better be in good condition or expect lots of rubbing.

I use it as a final coating after using Blue Magic metal polish which offers a little more bite.

I have used Meguires Mag and Aluminum Polish on my exhaust. It's very cheap and available in lots of places. Rub until it becomes black, then buff off with a clean rag. . .gives a nice shine.

click for pics of it on my car

Tried Brasso on some really mangy tips. No go. Great for grandmother's fine antiques, but not for neglected exhaust tips.

I had not noticed your location til now. Maybe the simplest approach would be: Tell us what products are available to you -- not just locally, but thru reasonably-priced online sources -- and some Autopians may tell you which will be aggressive enough for your problem.

I like Eagle One Nevr Dull, as it is available at most automotive stores (Nappa, Autozone, etc.), as well as the Targets and Walmarts. Cost is $5 and lasts for years. It's a can of presoaked wool with wadding polish. You tear a piece off and polish, no need for applicators.

Sorry, I don't know what is available in Singapore :(

I will be going down to my HyperMart to check out when I can and see what products are available :D then will let you guys know ... thanks... HOw Autosol by the way ;p

I went to have a look ... I have All Metal Polish Meguairs

Chrome and Metal Polish and Mag and aluminum Polish 3M

Any of these can REMOVE the black Gung on my exhaust tip?

I was looking at those spray used to clean BBQ grills ... Do you think it will work ? Kindly assist

Autosol is a pretty good polish, but if it's really sooty and black, you may want to use an all purpose cleaner on it first. Any househoulse cleaner should be ok, as long as you are careful not to get it on the paint. Once you get it cleaned up somewhat, then I would use the AutoSol on it.
