I`m just an amateur. Have only buffed this car once before, last year. Now doing it again.
I have pictures posted on this site from a year ago. Forget where they are. I bought this car a year ago as a 2 year lease. They did nothing to the paint. It looked more like platinum in the sun`s reflection, than black. One poster even commented so. The hood is actually in terrible shape with rock chips, etc. What can I say? I got a good deal on the car, and it was mechanically sound. Proven by Toyota`s records on the lease.
Anyway.... This time is the second time...
I had a rubbed scratch in the middle of the hood. I think someone at work did it on purpose. Because the car looked better than anyone else`s. That`s after a year from when I first buffed it. I used Menzerna`s 1000 on that spot with an orange pad. I took it out.
Then went at it with orange pad and Menzerna 3500.
Then blue pad and Menzerna Jaspars Power Lock. It is cool out here. The Power Lock didn`t dry. Interesting. I`m still happy with it and the results. I wiped the extra sealer off. Buffed it with a Griot`s Garage microfiber pad. You can see the Griot`s buffer and pad in the picture.
Normally, I use X-wax after washing this car. It works good with the Menzerna. Always leaves the car looking good. Black is tough. I`ve learned that depth is what`s important in the look of Black. I get good depth with what I do.
I went out to the garage this morning. I have to say I`m impressed. The view, ten feet away from the hood is outstanding.
